Dear user Jacksonville, Kartarpur is not a town. Please stop changing it. I have attempted to modify Wikidata and Wikipedia, where this place was falsely listed as "town", to account for this fact.
2 ~ 10 months agoJacksonville This is not a place for opinions, and from what can be seen on the Wikipedia article, the sources say it is a border *town*.

The termn "town" was introduced by an anonymous source into the Wikipedia page without any supporting evidence. I changed it back to "place", and now you have introduced the term "border town" in Wikipedia. You can falsify Wikipedia all you want; I have no authority the...
4 ~ 10 months agoJacksonville I did expect better from a former member of the OSM board, than to stoop to the level of potential doxxing, whether related or not, and then blocking me as well.

I'm here to discuss, what is it that you require? Because all sources point to it being a town, hence my edit of changing the node...
5 ~ 10 months agoJacksonville I mean worst comes to the worst, keep it as a locality, but there was no need for a block here.

I saw that you have created https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/18131866 but it can not be admin_level=7. Can you doublecheck this attribute?

Hello Jacksonville,
I noticed that you are currently working on updating the motorway network in Pakistan. In one of your edits, a portion of the M-15 Motorway was reclassified from trunk to motorway. Based on (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-15_motorway (Pakistan)), this route is technically named...
2 ~ 2 years agoJacksonville Hi YoungHiro45,

Apologies! Yes of course. I wasn't aware of the guidelines, but it makes sense now! I'll try and reclassify the sections back to trunk! Feel free to undo any other changes / mistakes I may have made.
3 ~ 2 years agoJacksonville Am I correct in assuming that the entire part of the 'M-15 motorway' after Mansehra is supposed be classified as a Trunk road?

Hello Jacksonville, thanks for making those changes! In regards to the M-15 Motorway tagged south of Mansehra, that has been motorway for several years now. There may be multiple factors for why that is currently Motorway. It might be best to leave it as is and try to involve more community members...

Hi Jacksonville,

https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/2451228921/history

here you added the amenity=place_of_worship tag, now this node doesn't have a tag that describes what it is anymore.

Also you deleted the religion=muslim tag but you left the denomination=ahmadiyya tag, which is sub...
2 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville Hi thanks for pointing it out. I've added the tags. It may have been that I might have removed them accidentally while adding the Mosque and the hall, when I was sorting out the area.

Hello,

I noticed you added a `name:pa-Arab` tag here alongside `name:pnb`. `name:pnb` is the most common existing way to tag Punjabi names in Shahmukhi; the use of `name:pa-Arab` has potential to add confusion by splitting up localizations. (The ISO suffixes are also poorly defined for languages ...
2 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville Hi! Yes I add both tags, just in case one or the other is used by other 3rd party sites (for instance - I know Spotify & MSN weirdly use the pa-Arab tags for the localised Shahmukhi page), otherwise I'm mainly for the 'pnb' ISO code. It's also the code used by Wiki projects.

Interesting, I had no idea Spotify and MSN did that

Hi, what is the source of this name.

Cheers Phil
2 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville Hi Phil, are you talking about the Urdu name?

I am, it seems unlikely that such a small place has a non-local name, that is normally for big cities.
4 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville The source for this comes from the name of the game "Bethesda"

https://www.bbc.com/urdu/science/2016/04/160408_bafta_game_awards_rwa

(You can CTRL + F "بتھیسڈا"), but for a lot of the other places, I've been transliterating them based on local sources, and langu...

Hello,

Out of courtesy to all the other mappers who are reviewing changesets, can I invite you to write better changeset titles for your edits.

We spotted several huge bounding boxes with a cryptic title—"Names"—every time. People are left to guess.

It looks like your...

Hi!

Can you confirm the source of this name? I've not heard Tilford referred to as Islamabad.

Jon
2 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville Hi Jon. It does seem unusual but the Ahmadiyya community refers to this place as "Islamabad (Tilford)", as their headquarters are located here.

Thanks for replying. I think that most speakers of Urdu are not members of the Ahmadiyya community (an Urdu-speaking friend of mine who lives nearby is not a member, for example, and would not use that name for the village). The Wikipedia page refers to the village as just "ٹلفورڈ"...
5 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville I'm not sure about nearby areas, but since most Urdu speakers in the village are members of the Ahmadiyya community, I felt it would have been more appropriate to name it that. The actual name, actually refers to the centre on sheephatch lane, but the entire village is *generally known as Islam...
6 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville Also, side note. Urdu Wikipedia is generally not reliable for names of places. Contributors try and translate names based on guessed pronunciation and transliteration, for the sake of publishing a page. It's the reason why I'm trying to localise the names in Urdu 😅

Lee: usually, a correct admonition, but Jacksonville only added the Urdu for the Netherlands to exactly one object (the nation's relation). It is impossible to do that in a smaller changeset.

Can't help it that our kingdom includes some bits of colonial heritage in the Caribbean.

“Netherlands”

Oh, quite right. Ignore my comment, then.

I'll try to avoid such requests for wide-spanning relations.
4 ~ 4 years agoJacksonville Hi, I have been guilty of doing this in other cases too, but I will refrain from doing this now on.

Thanks!
