I'm not sure that "highway=cycleway" is the right designation for these trails. Looking at the wiki page for cycleway (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:highway=cycleway), it seems to represent paths that are solely or primarily used for cyclists. All of the pictures on the page...

2 ~ 10 months agochart2006 They're paths/trails that are no longer authorized or official. They were decommissioned either for traversing private property where the owner asked they not or they're too difficult to maintain.

Thank you for your private message and for confirming that the deletions were intentional.

However, the fact that a path or way is not public does not necessarily justify its deletion. In OpenStreetMap, we use access tags to indicate whether a road or path is private.
