This route crosses private property (Fretheim Gard) and should be marked as private. According to Norwegian law (Outdoor Recreation Act § 2), this is classified as "innmark", with no public access. An uncastrated bull grazes here in the summer – serious safety risk. Please update to access=no and private=yes.

First of all, I understand your concern, but I want to emphasize that we in OSM try to be careful in marking trails as private where it cannot be defended legally. You changes here were a bit too broad in that regard. As far as I can see, only a small part or this path should be considered private access, according to the law. I am thinking of where the track road enters the farm yard at Fretheimshaugane 61. § 3 and § 3 a of the Outdoor Recreation Act grants access to pedestrians even on "innmark", when there are established roads or paths, with only a few exceptions, like for farmyards. And even in the case that this pasture-like land where you placed the note is considered off limits to the public, you marked the entire path, all the way to Vatnahaugane, as private, which it is not. The established practice is rather to split the path where it crosses into land that is off limits, such that only the off limits part is marked as private.

You're a new contributor though, so it is OK to not be aware of this practice. Just try to keep it in mind the next time you make similar changes. Judging from what I can see, this path is legally accessible if you come from Strandavegen via Sletta and Mjelkehaugen. I have thus reduced the private access tagging to only cover the farm yard at Fretheimshaugane 61. I hope that is fine with you. Let me know if there are additional legal considerations that I'm overlooking here.

Thank you for sharing your opinons. I would like to point out that there are no established roads or paths crossing the innmark “Sletta,” so crossing it is not permitted there either. The marked path there is therefore incorrectly shown as an established path.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. A path crossing Sletta can clearly be seen in orthographic photos, DTM, as well as maps published by the Norwegian Mapping Authority. I fail to see how this does not qualify as granting access under § 3 a. Also, this is really besides the point. Hypothetically, if Sletta is somehow considered off limits by the law, it is still perfectly feasible and legal to pass though the woods either to the east or west of Sletta. One could even access the path in question from an even larger detour, by Furekamben, which means it is decidedly not to be considered private, at least not in its entirety.

"Sletta" is "dyrka mark", cultivate land, and is not allowed to cross (as described in friluftsloven § 1 a: «Som innmark eller like med innmark reknes ... dyrket mark ... hvor almenhetens ferdsel vil være til utilbørlig fortrengsel for eier eller bruker.», jf. definisjonen av innmark).

Is these underground tunnels suppposed to be visible like this?

They are mapped as waterway=canal which would be correct if they are only partially filled with water, but I guess they are more likely waterway=pressurised. I do not know the situation on place, but some sections in the area are mapped like that so I guess it might be correct to change the whole network accordingly.

All water have pressure. There is pressure at the bottom of the lake even, but it is not a pressurised lake :) These tunnels are fairly flat and the drop usually happens right at the point where the raw tunnel turns into a actual pipe. The pressure is created at the near vertical final drop down to the turbines.

Thanks, that was how I was thinking it is and as I knew about the norwegian hydro-power by now (I was working in that business for a while back home in Switzerland). I might fix it in the time coming.

I think you misunderstood me. There is pressure in a lake or river as well, but that doesn't mean its pressurized. So neither is the tunnel. That is why I tag them as flooded instead. The "pressure" is created in the penstock if you want to call it pressurized.

Hi Gazer75 Well I think I understood you correctly but we probably read the wiki in a different way. Have a look at https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:tunnel%3Dflooded and the two pages linked from there for pressurised or canal As I understand it pressurised is used when there is no air in the tunnel - so if the intake is below the level of the lake. It does not mean that there is a "high" pressure, it is enough with the static pressure of the water over the whole surface of the tunnel. But of course I can be wrong - even if I do not think so (Well, who does ;-) )

Then,- all of your power plant imports should be changed to waterway=pressurised in stead of waterway=canal Gazer75?
10~ 1 year agocommentedGazer75
♦581
What is the difference between flooded and pressurized then? If a tunnel is flooded there should be no air in it right? It wouldn't be flooded if there was :) And if you want to be really picky there is always air in there to act as a damper. They build a chamber/tunnel for this purpose.
11~ 1 year agocommentedFjellrev
♦2,638
Well I guess flooded and pressurised should not be compared in this case as flooded is more generic and then it comes to waterway=pressurised (When the tunnel is completely filled with water) or waterway=canal (When the tunnel is not completely filled with water). So it is always tunnel=flooded and then waterway=pressurised/canal depending on the waterlevel. About the surge tanks (What are they called in Norwegian, in German they are called Wasserschloss), at least I am very aware of them and that they are partially containing air - I have been working in that business for about 15 years.

The tunnels aren't visible anymore, so I guess we can close the note.
