This street seems to have two names as there is a street sign on either side one being Crathie gardens east and the other Crathie gardens west. Pictures from the opposite end of the road from where this note is placed but it's the same where the note is too via StreetComplete 57.1 Attached photo(s): https://westnordost.de/p/209401.jpg https://westnordost.de/p/209402.jpg

Old OS maps (1:1250 1954) seem to confirm that the road is called Hardgate the whole way along, while Crathie Gardens West would be a substreet. The sign in the first image implies that the road is called Hardgate where the sign is, but the name changes to Crathie Gardens East some way along the road in the direction of the arrow. The house numbers on the east side of the road follow on from the other houses on Hardgate to the north though. My conclusion would be to change the road name to Hardgate, tag the houses on the west side of the road with Crathie Gardens West as addr:substreet, and ignore the Crathie Gardens East road sign. However I can see in the history that you changed the road name from Hardgate to Crathie Gardens East in the past, so since you've actually seen the road and signs in person what do you think would be the most appropriate tagging?

Hello, Substreet sounds like the best solution. Would be interesting why they keep the numbers on one side but had a different number on the other and where the name Crathie Gardens east/west came from over Hardgate.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I've added Crathie Gardens West as addr:substreet to the houses on the west side, and Hardgate as the addr:street to houses on the east side of the road.

There is currently work being done to the Carron Water and surrounding area as part of the Stonehaven Flood Protection Scheme (https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/environment/flooding/stonehaven-fps/). Many of the features in this area are being altered and will need to be updated either with a survey, or when new aerial imagery becomes available. Affected elements are tagged with a fixme.

Is there on the ground proof that shows this section of road called 'King Street East' rather than 'East King Street'? This is how it's named in OS Local data, but it seems unlikely
2~ 10 months agocommentedancuanatuath
♦1,797
The street signs on this road alternate between "East King Street" and "King St. E.", which doesn't really clear anything up. The junction with Sinclair Street has "East King Street", the junction with Charlotte Street has "King St. E.", the junction with Henry Bell Street has "East King Street" again, and I didn't go as far as the end of the street at the junction with Old Luss Road, but Bing Streetside imagery from 2020 shows another sign there that says "King St. E.". I checked the websites of a few businesses/amenities along the road and they consistently give their addresses as "East King Street", and the signs which have that version look newer, so I'd say the whole thing should probably be "East King Street" despite the signs.

OSM doesn't have contour data - whatever map style you're seeing this on is sourcing its contours from elsewhere, and so that's where this kind of issue should be reported

Has this lake two run-offs to opposite directions?
2~ 5 years agoclosedQwave
♦518
I checked the OpenTopoMap for the slope of the terrain. And it appears to fall on the east and west of the loch. And there is some rather rocky terrain above in the south and a little higher than the loch in the north. So I guess this loch got just two stream off and none into it.
3~ 5 years agoreopenedQwave
♦518
4~ 5 years agocommentedQwave
♦518
But the loch to the nw might be a little higher and spill a bit into the loch in question. But this would cause the NW loch to have two opposite run-offs.

But there is a runoff seen on the older and the new 2022 Bing air view. And other small streams are not on the OS maps either. Like the one from Lochan Mullach an Roin going to the more western loch of the two.
10~ 11 months agoclosedancuanatuath
♦1,797
There is pretty good lidar data for the Outer Hebrides, which I've used to modify the directions of some of these streams. The loch to the north west is slightly higher than this one and all the streams connected to it seem to be runoffs, while this loch has only one runoff, to the east.
