this terrace has been divided into one too many units #EveryDoor

Need to know which housenumber doesn't exist to fix this. Or. is it that one of the divisions (probably one of the end ones) has two housenumbers?

Counting the number of gardens visible on bing suggests there should actually be 13 house numbers. Or possibly even 14. There's a brown patch to the east of where number 55 is presently mapped. That could be a garden or an open space.
4~ 1 month agocommentedMilhouse
♦377
Yeah, using EveryDoor I ran out of door numbers as I numbered them up (I was looking at the terrace and seeing 55-66) but had one extra house on the terrace with a question mark in EveryDoor hence the note. I don't see it in OSM though, let me look again at EveryDoor and see if I can work out what confused me!

Confusing. I didn't see rskedgell's photo until now, but I did try to get my own photo. Walked past and... didn't find the cycle shed! I took this photo (camera pointing southwestwards) which I think just about shows that the shed is no longer in that location just beyond the street lamp: https://www.instagram.com/p/DW_sy9UjU0B/ Must've been removed I think. But around the corner I did find that this node: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9370266668 ...is two sheds: https://www.instagram.com/p/DW_uWgYDU3L/ Should that be capacity 12?

A quick search of the Gazette shows that the council moved it: https://www.thegazette.co.uk/notice/4798154 "2) The general effect of the Orders would be to introduce new bike hangars on the following roads: ... d) to remove the bike hangars at the following locations and replace with resident permit parking spaces: ... ii) 1 bike hangar on Mackenzie Road, outside No. 50 Mackenzie Road. " Someone probably complained that their parking space was removed.

Node 11233682973 here is a gate mapped as access=private. It presumably requires a corresponding restriction either west or east in way 243646370 which contains it. Possibly also needs additional gate(s) somewhere to enclose the private section(s). See also https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/2144954 which is possibly misplaced and intended to be on this way 243646370 .
2~ 4 months agocommentedMilhouse
♦377
The path is being reopened on Sunday - accoring to the management company access will be via Augustus Close, so most likely via the gate at node https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/7413971454 which will no longer be private. It's not clear whether it will allow access all the way around this bit of headland or if the headland will continue to be a dead end.

3~ 8 years agocommentedEric P BakerThe pink and lilac areas bounded by Augustus Close, Brentford High Street, Grand Union Canal and Heidelberg comprise the Ballymore Brentford Waterside development. Demolition work started in March 2018. Nearly 900 new flats are planned for the site plus lots of new retail.

If you can determine the approximate boundary of the affected area, you can mark it up as landuse=construction until actual buildings appear.

6~ 3 years agoreopenedEric P Baker
7~ 3 years agocommentedEric P BakerNot in the slightest accurate, and Google Maps is also 2+ years out of date despite pretending its 2020 satellite image is 2023. Brent Way East of Magpie & Crown no longer exists and the site West of Catherine Wheel Rd is now filled with 7-10 storey apartment blocks, some already populated, retail at street level, new roadways.
8~ 5 months agocommentedMilhouse
♦377
I think it's correctly mapped now?
9~ 5 months agocommentedEric P BakerIt's good for the completed sections between Ronalds and Catherine Wheel Roads, although the area to the SW of the Brewery Tap pub is being constructed now. Between Catherine Wheel and Dock Roads it's mostly still to be constructed except for the 2 Georgian buildings by the corner of Dock Rd and High Street. To the East of Dock Rd there are going to be some residential units built against the W side of the car park. The vehicle entrance to the car park has been moved to the E side. So looking good but construction is still in progress.
13412941~ 8 years agoopenedEric P BakerThis area used to be a car park for the old magistrates court. When that was abandoned then developed into flats plus a restaurant the car park was discontinued and converted into a sort of town square where the Sunday Market is held. It is now a paved area with some landscaping, protected from parking by steel bollards, some removable.

GlaxoSmithKline, aka GSK, is no longer at this location. They closed/sold their Brentford site and moved to New Oxford Street London. Also other facilities marked on this map associated with this site no longer are present at this locale. E.g. GSK Security; Londis (which was inside the GSK House building) and gone. See reference to UK locations… https://www.gsk.com/en-gb/locations/united-kingdom/ The building is currently under redevelopment planning… https://www.architectsjournal.co.uk/news/first-images-revealed-of-plans-to-convert-glaxosmithkline-hq-into-homes

The map data does not state it to be free and public. But instead of telling us what it is not, you need to tell us what it *is*. According to http://www.hounslow.gov.uk/index/transport_and_streets/parking/where_to_park.htm parking is for 30 minutes with a free ticket but we need full details to map it properly.

Is cycling allowed here? The Canal Towpath is permissive for cycling so this link to a local road ought to be too.

Only a very short stretch (~3m) is footpath and then there is a distinct carriageway and pavement (with the carriageway comically painted with double yellows), so I'm going to mark it permissive to help routers

Maybe it's moot because the path is closed anyway, but this doesn't look like the route of the Bandweg
2~ 1 year agocommentedhabi
♦7,593
The path https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/129652512 is *not* closed in the OpenStreetMap data, but https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/286880416 is. Do you think that the first way should not be *named* Bandweg?
3~ 1 year agocommentedhabi
♦7,593
The name 'Bandweg' was added in https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/17352155
4~ 1 year agocommentedMilhouse
♦377
Ah, this might be my mistake then - the way whose ID ends in 416 *is* the route of Band, but it isn't rendered in the standard OSM rendering because it's marked as officially closed so I couldn't see it. It may be that Band always started at two separate locations - it's signed from the Rodelbahn station (approximately from node https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/9111890380) which is the route I've walked a couple of times. Maybe it was also always signed from https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/436628820 ? It was always meant to be one of the walking routes to Pilatus Kulm so the stubs that are left isn't what I'd consider to be "Bandweg". I'll defer to someone with more local knowledge though, and assume that the signage (probably legacy) is still at the current end nodes of route that's still visible in OSM!
5~ 10 months agocommentedPiagno
♦18,281
When did you see the signage "Bandweg" at the Rodelbahn station? If it's still there right now, i would call the whole section between Rodelbahn and Lauelenegg crossing "Bandweg". If it's old info from years ago, I would remove the name. Because the true Bandweg is closed since over 20 years.
6~ 10 months agocommentedMilhouse
♦377
Maybe I'm imagining it? There is a sign just past the Rodelbahn station saying that the Bandweg is closed, implying that it is there. And clearly some people are using it if it's appearing in Strava heatmaps, though the current tagging (abandoned:highway=path with a note about the closure) seems about right.
7~ 10 months agoclosedPiagno
♦18,281
Thanks, so I removed the name from the path which is officially still maintained. -> Right now it should be right. https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/169195826
