That is true for landuse=forest, but in boundary terms it's all part of Epping Forest. For example, Chingford Golf Club is, as its web page confirms, owned or managed by the City of London as part of Epping forest. There are also many other areas currently outside that boundary, but are accessed through paths or gates that are clearly labelled Epping Forest. I found a useful map https://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/assets/Green-Spaces/epping-forest-map.pdf which clarifies the areas of the forest which are open to the public. We probably can't map anything directly from it without special permission, but it could at the least be used as a reference to determine areas currently not included in that boundary which could be visited to check signage or to research independently. | |
