| 5237008 Category: Unknown | 1 | ~ 1 month ago | opened | rubixcuban ♦0 | Can you update the sidewalks on either side of Samsung Plan as "foot=no". I was attempting to run up to the guard shack this morning and then turn back. I was warned off well before that point. |
~ 1 month ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | Sorry, I meant "Samsung Plant." The sidewalk parallel to East Parmer Lane is fine. The streets and sidewalks going into the plant itself are not. |
~ 1 month ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | I looked at my CityStrides activity and a rough estimation is that you can go about 50 meters in from the south Parmer Lane sidewalk and be legal. The guard will start yelling at you before then, so you may want to make it 40 m to be safe. |
~ 1 month ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | Sorry, one last note. I said foot=no, but do whatever is appropriate for no trespassing. |
~ 1 month ago | commented | gpserror ♦12,255 | btw, access=private not foot=no, I think employees are welcome to walk this sidewalk but not general public. |

| 4883877 Category: unknown | 1 | ~ 9 months ago | opened | rubixcuban ♦0 | The section of southbound I35 frontage road parallel to the freeway from E. 53rd St to where it joins back with the other frontage road south of 51st street is unsafe to walk. There is no shoulder whatsoever underneath 51st street. Please remove any indication of walkability from that piece of road. The part that flares out to the west, however is walkable by some definitions of the word. |
~ 9 months ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | The east side is not quite as bad, so this is not a symmetrical issue. |
~ 9 months ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | I double checked and there is a small shoulder underneath 51st, so I'm wrong, but it's still unsafe and not at all meant for pedestrians. |
~ 8 months ago | commented | kaleidoscopica ♦385 | Can you screenshot the satellite/aerial imagery of where you're talking about? From what I can see, everything looks like it's mapped correctly. Or are you saying some recent construction has messed with the sidewalks as they're currently drawn? |
~ 8 months ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | Just looked at the open street map. It now appears to be correct. The lane underneath the X is now red, which I assume means unwalkable. It used to be marked as walkable at that point, which isn't right. I don't know how upload photos in this forum. |
~ 8 months ago | closed | rubixcuban ♦0 | I actually did walk on the side of the red lane underneath the 51st street bridge and it is super scary. It's basically just a concrete slope and a ledge to hold the guard rails. I'm going to resolve this now. |
~ 8 months ago | reopened | kaleidoscopica ♦385 | When you say it was "marked walkable" can you elaborate? Was this through some 3rd party app? I suppose it doesn't matter as you've resolved the note, but for reference the "red" color of the street does NOT relate to walkability whatsoever. Pedestrian infrastructure in Austin is all represented with sidewalk ways, separate from roads. (Some roads do have sidewalk tagging information as well but I am slowly organizing and merging this information, and in any case, those tags have not changed on these roads anytime recently.) Just... so many questions! |

There's no way to get to that as there are hurricane fences lining both side of Wedgewood Drive. The fences go all the way south to Braker Lane. If you look at a satellite map, you'll see that it's just a bunch of brush land. The fence is cut in a few places for homeless encampments, but there no way to get to either Silverlawn or MXM from Wedgewood. I'm frankly not sure that the roads even exist ... I couldn't see them from Wedgewood. |
~ 11 months ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | I took pictures of the fences and signs warning you to keep out, but don't know how to upload them on this site. |
~ 11 months ago | commented | mewhenthe ♦72 | This whole area needs a rework in general. This area appears to contain fake buildings created by https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Matthew%20X%20Martinez All of the data in this region is most likely fictional and needs to be deleted ASAP. |
~ 10 months ago | commented | Milroy1812 ♦87 | Not entirely fictitious. GIS map shows where streets and lots were planned for a residential area that was never built. Hickory Grove ("MXM Drive") and Plaza Drive were apparently supposed to continue and meet up with Wedgewood Drive. Possibly Matthew X Martinez didn't realize that none of this was ever going to be built and was trying to be helpful. I deleted the "buildings" and sidewalk that were never built, but left the house numbers. |
~ 10 months ago | commented | rubixcuban ♦0 | I run streets as a hobby. I ran Wedgewood and there is no MXM/Hickory Grove drive. Should I go back and provide GPS annotated pictures to show no MXM exists? There might have been a dirt path version of Silverlawn, but it certainly doesn't exist as a walkable street, much less a drivable one. It's behind fencing. Some homeless folks cut the fence and are living there, so I was able to take a peek. Let me know what proof I can provide to get these "streets" removed from the map. |
~ 10 months ago | commented | Milroy1812 ♦87 | More evidence is always welcome, but as I stated above - I already deleted all the stuff that was never built. Hickory Grove Drive currently exists only as a short stub attached to the west side of Walnut Ridge Drive (near the north end of the dirt track). I have no idea why the previous editor named it "MMX Drive". I did not see this name in either of the maps I used as sources. The ARC-GIS map viewer (https://www.arcgis.com/apps/mapviewer/index.html) clearly shows the intended path of Silverlawn Drive and a couple of other never-built cross streets. It also shows the right of way that Hickory Grove Drive would have followed west from Walnut Ridge Drive had it been built. The TIGER Roads 2023 feature in website for OpenStreetMap's iD editor also shows these cross streets, or at least the stubs of them, heading west from Wedgewood Drive. |
