You can drive north along North Fork Road (just west) which is outside the national park. You can enter the park at Polebridge and can visit the two northernmost lakes. But if you want to get to the Going to the Sun Road, you must exit the park at Polebridge, drive south along North Fork Road, and re-enter the park at Apgar. This appears to be a way of enforcing the need for a permit to drive the Going to the Sun road. The road is blocked here, with signs explaining that situation. |
