And the "main" peak is actually not the highest point of the ridge (which is also not unprecedented in our mountains). The "main" peak with the summit register and all is in fact the lower peak in the west with mere 819 m elevation. There is also a wooden plate with 836 m inscribed on it, which is clearly an error but has spread onto many internet resources. The higher peak in the east is also the highest point of this ridge, at 825.78 m according to LiDAR, rounded to 826 m. The highest point of the ridge should definitely be documented. It’s not uncommon in OSM to label secondary peaks with directional names, e.g. “XY – East Peak”, so I may go that route. I’m checking with another editor whether there’s any marker at all on that eastern peak, as these peaks sometimes have small marking stones with a small cross on them (as in a trigonometric point). If there's any such marked, I'd be even more inclined to keep the name. | |
