You may want to consider contributing to another street imaging service too, like Mapillary. Such services integrates better with OpenStreetMap, and it provides a way to do 2D or 360° pictures with GPS tracing. That provides more context to your pictures, and it allows others to build on top of your reports beyond just the temporary notes. There is only one trace from Mapillary from 2 years ago for this street. So the area is getting a little stale. I know that there are new buildings in this area, and the aerial imagery of this area in OpenStreetMap is a little stale too. It's just something to consider. Thanks for your report!

There has been some discussion about this in changeset/178336871. If I'm summarizing correctly, Flap Slimy Outward believes that the traffic is usually flowing between Lawrence and 85, and this part of Saratoga must therefore be categorized the same due to importance. My stance is that this segment of Saratoga is not a continuation of Lawrence. It's a slower & lower capacity road, and people on this road are going to a local destination, like the Westgate shopping complex. People that do use Lawrence for commuting are usually using Quito, and that people on 85 stay on 85. I say that this Saratoga is an extension of Saratoga and not Lawrence with Saratoga having roughly the same capacity between 85 and 280. Traffic is not flowing as this current road categorization is trying to convey.

The Mapillary imagery shows a fenced-in, and maintained area. Someone is mowing the grass, and generally maintaining the area. I'm getting dog park vibes from the area, but I can't confirm that. There is no sign in the area for the name of the small park. On the separate topic of the nearby railroad, it's uncertain on the status of the railroad. Between 2020 and 2023, a new railroad crossing was added in the Aptos Village area to the northwest. On the other hand, the railroad has generally been overgrown with grass over the years, and the bushes are creeping in on the railroad. It could be active. It could be abandoned. The people spending money on railroad crossings are treating it as active within the past few years.

I feel uncomfortable adding the informal dirt path between the bike trail and Penitencia Creek Road. It seems unsafe. There is no crossing here, and the speed is faster at 35 MPH, which is more than the typical residential or school zone speed limit. There is no sidewalk on this side of the road. I assume that nearby high schoolers made this informal path. If you decide to extend the path to the road, please find a way to discourage its use. Some people have made unsafe path suggestions in this map, like jaywalking over expressways, trespassing on railroad property, or going through someone's private gated property, and I discourage suggesting such paths.

Furthermore, I think Californian traffic laws (vehicle code 21451a, specifically) generally state that traffic that has not entered the intersection must yield to traffic that remains in the intersection even when a traffic light turns green, so the implication is that traffic that has already entered the roundabout retain right of way. Of course, the law does add the qualifier that those in the roundabout are "lawfully" within the intersection, so I don't know if repeatedly running around in a roundabout is considered "lawful".

The intersection just happens to be roundabout shaped. The routes and turn restrictions within the intersection remain the same. Basically I turned a square intersection into a round intersection, and added junction=roundabout. Oh, and I fixed the turn lane information for this intersection. Some lanes are right-turn only.

It seems like a valid route for pedestrians to take, and it's a safer path to suggest. I've marked this surface as asphalt. Given the option between a potential unmarked crossing, and a nearby marked crossing, suggest the marked crossing for the people exiting the parking structure. I think the marked crossing has a tactile surface curb for blind or low sight people. The path is also next to a handicap parking spot.

It's not Junipero Serra Freeway, I-280, nor Calvert Drive. There are no addresses on this patch of the road, and it's surrounded by curbs, walls and trees.

	3	~ 11 months ago	closed	Black_Diamond ♦869	Salons and barbers do subcontract or lease spaces to individuals with licenses to cut hair. Each of them can have to have their own business license. The sign on the street is "Salons by JC". Notice the plural "salons". Some of these people with licenses could perform services offsite, like for weddings, but they still need a permanent business address. So it's technically correct. Whether all of these businesses are still valid besides is a separate question. You can verify such information with the City of San Jose. Any business in the city limits must be registered and of course pay taxes. It's also worth noting that each of these single owner businesses do have a note that it's "Located inside Salons by JC", and they can each have separate contact information. So you can't really combine them under a single address point. If you so desire, you could add a site relation with all of these businesses, but these points seem to be valid.
