do these two trees exist?
2~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
I was going off Mapbox, which is more recent than Ortofotomozaika, and they're somewhat visible there. My intention is to survey it all after I'm done with the Great Unparking to remove any discrepancies I might have caused with outdated imagery. It's going to be a long process, so if you find during survey that a mapped tree is not there, feel free to remove it.
3~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
took me a sec to realize the Great Unparking has nothing to do with the new PAAS or any sort of parking

Checked this bit of grass and I'm surprised myself how accurately I got the trees on it. That is to say, they're there, so I'm closing this note.

Should these be living streets? There's no sign, and as it is, it looks much more like a footpath with parking spaces on it, so something like highway=footway + motor_vehicles=destination?
2~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
it was historically, they removed the sign ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
3~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
to elaborate further; seems that in 2014 the sign was still there, in 2018 its not there https://maps.app.goo.gl/eLwY49zffr1qD5tBA

Well, it's certainly not there now, thanks for the confirmation. I'll leave this up until I get to this area so I don't forget.

Unable to answer "What’s the surface quality here?" – Foot Path – https://osm.org/way/1208283800 via StreetComplete_ee 63.21: I'd remove this whole path... cars parked all along
2~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Agreed, it's not necessary for routing. Had to compromise in the south so that the pavement there wasn't left with a stub or unmapped. I didn't want to connect the footway=link directly to the residential road to prevent routing pedestrians on it, so I've connected it at the junction with the driveway instead. I'm leaving the note for you to close in case you get a better idea on it.

I think all of these are split similarly to the first one via StreetComplete 56.0
2~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
Except for the first one, they all only have a single house number in the cadastre, so I'm not sure if splitting them is a good idea. But it needs checking onsite, maybe they are really split housing units and use suffix numbering like 9 and 9A.
3~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
gated community iirc :(
4~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
Yep, I walked by there yesterday, and was disappointed that it was gated off. But there are house numbers listed outside next to the gate, and I haven't seen any extra ones, so I'd keep those houses unsplit, at least for now. The latest official dataset with addresses from data.slovensko.sk also agrees here.

Unable to answer "Do these steps have a handrail?" for https://osm.org/way/1531896796 via StreetComplete 56.0: this is just a step up before the doors
2~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Whether it has a handrail or not can still be determined though (usually doesn't). A single step is really just a trivial example of steps with a step count of one.
3~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
additionally (have one more comment queued in streetcomplete) there is steps_count tag on entrance= nodes which could be used in these cases to reduce the path pollution (nearly all doors in KV have these)
4~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Ohh, didn't know about that one! Sounds good, I'll keep it in mind and possibly fix all the ones already done like this unless the steps are further away from the entrancs
5~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
although not widely used wouldn't https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:barrier%3Dstep be better for this?
6~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
^^ that was the street complete note reply :) yeah sounds alright 👍
7~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
Wow, I wasn't aware of barrier=step. Someone should add it to the https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:barrier page! :)
8~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
barrier=step sounds alright, but doesn't it just push the boundary of comically short steps from step_count=1 to step_count=2?
9~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
We'd first need to define what "comically short" means (in this context :) ). To me, "steps" and "stairs" - both nouns are in plural - already means two steps or more.
10~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Fair, if we take the key name as descriptive, then it's clear enough as it is. Additionally, while a single step doesn't have a clearly defined length that could be equated with a way on the map, two and more steps do, so that's another distinction between 1 and ≥2. I was more going for the fact that it doesn't address the above concern about short and dense footways/steps. Though personally I don't think it needs to be addressed. When that's reality, it's what should be on the map.
11~ 1 month agocommentedSpr3
♦133
imho there are so much more 1 step situations in KV than 2 step that it wouldn't really matter additionally I'd wonder where would 1 step stairs begin and end? two steps set a precedent for step length but in 1 step situation the two steps (lower and upper) can be arbitrarily long? (dunno if this makes sense)
12~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Yeah, that's sort of what I mean with clearly defined length. I think barrier=step for singles and highway=steps for 2 and more is good. I'll keep it in mind and change the single steps I've already done as ways to nodes as I go. If you see any and don't feel like fixing them yourselves, feel free to add a fixme or a note to them or just wait, I'll do it eventually.
13~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Just crossed my mind, one thing barrier=step doesn't cover as opposed to highway=steps is the direction of the step, whether it's upward or downward, which may be of help to the visually impaired. We can pretty much cover everything else that's normally tagged on highway=steps with separate ways, but direction is lost when switching to a single node.
14~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
For a step that is in the middle of a way, we can keep using incline=up/down just like for stairs, but you do have a point (hehe) if it is on a point connecting two different ways.

2~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
This quest appears whenever a path, or a path-like way ends on a point that's on the edge of a building polygon. I thought StreetComplete was smarter, because I specifically added the layer=1 tags to the paths here to express that they are going *above* the building.
3~ 1 month agocommentedticho2
♦294
I just noticed that the steps way doesn't have layer=1 - since it's not overlapping any other element on the map, I did not deem it necessary. I have now added the tag, let me know if the quest disappears from SC.

Do we have any source for the names of these parks? https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/30960209 https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/20766806 https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/30960553 None of them are signed on the ground, or have any source for the names provided in the changesets which added the names. In the case of Park Donnerova it's also another case of a non-park, which just makes me further doubt the credibility of these names.

4~ 1 month agocommentedScarlettB
♦140
Yeah, I mean, I'm all for tagging parks as what they are and Park Kutiky and Park Donnerova deffo are parks. They have fountains, footways that aren't clearly meant for transit and they're self-contained enough .Here I'm really only concerned about the names. I've noticed this on many entities in the area, they're descriptive names that seem to come out of nowhere and I don't think we should invent these if they're not signed (and even then it's debatable) Personally I'd keep Kempelenova and Kutiky as parks but remove the name, and turn Donnerova into regular grass-and-trees.
