When going Westbound toward Portland, the map will say continue toward I5-Salem. This can be confusing because this exit can take you on the 205 to Salem. Going toward I5-Salem is technically correct, but confusing in the context, and has caused me to take a wrong turn more than once. I propose having the navigation say "continue on 84 East" here if needing to go further into Portland. Stopping the confusion of 2 exits being labeled "Salem".

is this exit signed this way?

The reason it is set that way is that the road sign says Salem on it. The road sign does not have 84 on it or east. I am looking at a Mapillary from 2024. if the road sign has changed we can change it.

where is the second exit that says Salem?

I found it. I think I understand the issue. The routing you describe is a logical route but not the way it is signed. What router are you using?

I'm using CoMaps. I can try to get an image of the signs next time I'm headed that way (I travel often for work). From a driver's perspective: you're driving on the I84 West. This is a 2 way split, where the 2 left lanes go to I205 South, with an option to go to I205 North. The 2 right lanes keep you on I84 West. This does indeed eventually get you to I5 but about 6-8 miles later. If this isn't actually an issue, feel free to ignore, I've just taken a wrong turn too many times and wanted to see if something could be done to make it clearer that you continue down 84 west.

I use a different router/app that I have had similar issues and had to report to the app developers. The app router is telling me to get off at an exit even though I am to stay on the mainline.

I would report a CoMaps issue at https://codeberg.org/comaps/comaps This is not an issue with the data as it is tagged correctly, and as such, I am closing this note.

I've obtained a picture of the signs and have determined there is a problem. When I am going toward Portland, maps tells me to continue to I5 Salem. This is not notated anywhere on these signs, and more than once has caused me to take the "Salem" exit. https://imgur.com/a/ZT2oNgI

The map data is in fact correct. I have checked all appropriate ways and there is no mention of I-5. This is an issue with CoMaps. Please report it to them instead (I have had a similar issue before).

Yes I have had this sort of issue as listed above. I had to report it to my router of choice. I can't see anything wrong with the OSM data in those other locations either

Why is this note repeatedly being reopened?

This is a problem with the app, not the data.
