Mylnes Culvert, runs from Stone Bridge beneath Quay Head (southern tip of Electricity House), around the EAST side of St Stephens Church (there's a curve here) then following the course of Marsh Street to Prince Street, thence picking up the route you've mapped. Also from Stone Bridge there's a stormwater culvert running beneath the centre to No.1 Harbourside bar, what many Bristolians wrongly believe to be the Frome outlet. For what it's worth, I think they're temporary modal filters (as photographed), with the intention of making it a pocket park after a trial period. Castle St was reduced to make space for the widened pavement & cycleway. It's at that pedestrian entrance to the park that the carriageway narrows, with a one-way arrow painted on the asphalt. My guess is it allows maintenance vehicles to Castle Park and the CHP plant to go back-and-forth easily. | |
