♦697		Is this path part of a Public Right of way? there are some GPS traces on the Strava heat map. footway to the north has been moved, but footpath to the south will need an on-foot survey. Likely the "south" path needs to be moved East by 100 metres towards the treeline, as there is also some Strava Heat map routes there, and closer together. I think if it has been 10 years, with no confirmation, this note May be a bit redundant, and may need a different approach.

I’m confused. Perhaps this has already been resolved but the note not closed. However I see it was closed 01.01.25 and then re-opened by yourself. ♦6,242		When I drove past here a couple of weeks ago, the road layout bore no relation to what is in OSM. There was one road from the south that turned west, and one joining from the north. There were not three parallel north-south roads (though individual lanes were marked at the junction, and could be mapped as lanes).

Although it does look a little messy to look at at the moment at some point, I assume (and hope), there will be rendering for secondary road areas, as there is at the moment for residential, unclassified and service roads. As soon as this happens I'll start updating the roads in the area.

None of the traffic islands really warrant being mapped as dual carriageway, except the one on Silver Street as it has a war memorial on it. Making all appropriate changes now. ♦6,242		Latest OS map data isn't OSM compatible. Local PRoW data https://map.atownsend.org.uk/maps/map/map.html#16/53.9904/-2.1165/H/P likely is (OGL 3). The challenge is that council data might not match the reality on the ground (up in the North York Moors it misses far more than it hits). Many, if not most, of OSM footpaths have been surveyed. I can certainly vouch for south of Gargrave and most ways from Skipton :)

♦6,242		I know that the current UK head of state (and once suggested "Defender of All Faiths") had a nice chat with the Pope last week, but I don't thing that Westminster Cathedral (a catholic cathedral) counts! St Paul's however, I'll grant you :) Whether a "place=city" in OSM should match "what a place calls itself" or "has a cathedral" or "places that a legally cities in the local country" or "the largest settlement or settlements within a territory" has been discussed on and off for years. The OSM wiki suggests the last of these, which might invalidate St David's and might include Reading, but current OSM tagging in IE and UK favours legal status: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/2ejy . This note follows a comment on https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/36574595 and was intended to see if that change had broad support among people who actually live in Westminster. It hasn't been changed back (or provoked further discussion elsewhere) since 2016 so I'll close this note.

Der Weg nördlich der Bahnlinie ist durch dichten Bewuchs (der auch die Bahn vor Golfbällen schützt) vom Golfplatz getrennt. Der Weg selbst ist eher zu schmal für Autos, allerdings stehen wie gesagt nirgends Schilder. Im Bereich der Unterführung im Südwesten teilt man ihn sich aber definitiv mit Golfern, die die Löcher südöstlich erreichen wollen. (Am Weg ist der nächste Abschlag ausgeschildert.) Südwestlich der Unterführung ist der Weg an den öffentlichen Feldweg angeschlossen und hat dort auch den Charakter eines selten befahrenen Feldwegs. Direkt nordöstlich der Markierung, von der Einmündung aus, verläuft ein Weg quer über den Platz. Er liegt ein wenig höher als das Gras – kann aber von dort aus leicht betreten werden und andersherum – und ist von Büschen gesäumt. Im Nordwesten ist er an das öffentliche Wegenetz angeschlossen (Herrenweg). An beiden Enden dieses Wegs verhindern Poller, dass Autofahrende ihn als Abkürzung nutzen; ansonsten gibt es keine Barrieren. Auch Verbotsschilder wären mir nirgends aufgefallen. Im Gegenteil: An der Brücke im Herrenweg scheint ein Wanderwegweiser über den Golfplatz zu weisen.
