Nonetheless, the small 'component' of the road network can be connected to the main road network where, in this case, there can be some sort of indication of a barrier (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Barriers#Routing), no? That is, apart from the gate, it is possible to access that small component through the main component, (and vice-versa, in this case). Because, in fact, the two components are indeed connected. i.e., there is a node that is part of edges of both components - the intersection between those edges (right?) | |

When data is downloaded for routing purposes, and if the ways represent the same thing, it leads to data repetition, i.e., one unnecessary representation, causing overhead in data cleaning, preprocessing and routing down the road. If those ways do represent the same, wouldn't only keeping one of them be a solution? | |
