According to the signs, this bike trail is called "Big Woods Regional Trail" not "Scott West" via StreetComplete 56.1 Attached photo(s): https://westnordost.de/p/199296.jpg

I've changed the name of the individual trail segments and created a relation to contain them as a route. Does this look correct? https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/17300859 Also some sections have been marked as part of a route Eagle Creek Trail. Is this a thing? Is it possible this an outdated or informal designation before the regional trail plan? I find reference to the creek in this area, but not the trail. https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/10620143

The new Big Woods trail looks good. I can't find any information at all about the Eagle Creek Trail. There is a trail with that name in Oregon (https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/crgnsa/recreation/hiking/recarea/?recid=29912&actid=50) and a mention of a proposed one in Kandiyohi County, MN (https://files.dnr.state.mn.us/assistance/grants/recreation/local_trails_connection/22-ltc-awards.pdf). That is nowhere near this one though. Unless there is opposition, I think it should be deleted.

There is also this Eagle Creek Trail in NC that I hiked last fall. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/167431991 I've reach out to ethanosten, who added the relation in question only four years ago for his comment on this note.

interesting. This is actually marked for a snowmobile route... however I think this is wrong as the snowmobile probably can just follow the path of the road and not have to use this off-road nonexistent path... I'd vote to delete but wonder about opinions of other mappers/

The Bing Streetside imagery looks terrible but I don't see any trails/sidewalks along the road

There are a lot of these trails in MN. Someone imported the trails from the MN Dept. of Natural Resources many years ago with the incorrect tags. I think they should just be tagged winter_road, but should definitely not be tag as paths or tracks

Snowmobile paths usually cut across farmland and don't follow the roads necessarily. They would only be visible in winter and on official maps.

Yeah this is not a side walk on either side

I have seen many like this but am not sure how to tag them. In this case (and many others) the ditch is used and there is no trail except in winter. I came across one instance of someone stating to use "highway=path + seasonal=winter + snowmobile=yes/designated". But I have never found anything very definitive. It would be nice if there was a standard for this similar to tagging a road with cycleway:right=*.

Looks changed but is it actually tagged properly and routable? Something still seems off...

I tagged based on the wiki instructions: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:piste:type=snowmobile these are winter only features that only show up on routers/renderers that specialize in snowmobiles. (note that I know of none of these that exist for minnesota)

Lakebed is no longer clearly present. Area is farmland with drainage solutions that don’t allow for this kind of water feature. Most other lakebeds mapped in this region are in a similar state (heavily modified by farming/land management). Is this the proper way to map them?

Changing this to a wetland doesn't really tackle the issue either. The area isn't a wetland or prone to being waterlogged. It's just farmland now.
4~ 7 days agocommentedgpserror
♦12,134
If they completely drained it and used it as unremarkable farmland, probably best to just delete the wetland/lake. But be careful. though probably not in this situation, I've seem some seasonal wetland that depend on time of year the satellite imagery photographs it.

I drove past the spot at least once a month for two years and can confirm that this is not the case. There were a couple dips that sometimes held a little water, but even during a really rainy year it was pretty dry. As mentioned in my initial note, these lake beds are not really intermittent lakes like they're currently mapped. I'd imagine there's some mix of farmland and wetland within the footprints, but intermittent lake is definitely not the best way to map lakebeds around here. Unfortunately, I no longer do work in this area so I can't give good detail on what actually sits within these footprints now. I do know that the majority has been turned into farmland with drainage networks. There are certainly some seasonal wet areas still.

To be clear, I'm also talking about the great oasis lake bed and other surrounding lake beds near here.
