The stadard "mapnik' renderer therefore puts a street name on each block, making the "density of street names" you notice. It's not a hack, it's valid in OSM, but is causing this display difference. Therefore having one street with several different ways is sometimes the correct way to map it. Having too many visible labels is therefore a rendering issue, not an underlying data issue. | |
