1~ 1 year agoopenedjrbirnbaStreet numbers on this road segment are not lined up correctly with the houses. For example, I placed the marker at 7154 Celome Court, but the map thinks it's at 7162.
2~ 1 year agocommentedcuzi
♦7,242
This is relatively easy to do if you would like to contribute to Openstreetmap yourself. You click "Edit" at the top and then you'll see that the houses are drawn as red areas and the addresses are little dots or markers. You can just drag and drop the address marker into the correct house. These addresses are imported from official data sources. Unfortunately they only roughly correspond to the parcel of land, and not the actual position of the house. So all of them need to be corrected by hand to the position of the house.
3~ 7 months agocommentedZian Choy
♦2,593
I've taken a first stab at the house numbers that look reasonably likely to be in the right place. I used the BuildingTools (<https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/JOSM/Plugins/BuildingsTools>) plugin. jrbirnba, please review the changes and tag additional houses if possible.

looks like someone has already done it for the majority of the roads here about 3 years ago, example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/175366419/history/16. So Ill mark this as resolved even though some roads could still use the access=private tag.
43127851~ 1 year agoopenedlajollafarmsresidentDirections to 9521 La Jolla Farms Rd should lead to the west side of the house, which is the only access to the property. Currently, directions are incorrectly leading to the east end of the house (on Torrey Pines Rd) where there is no access to the property. Could you please help us edit this address so that access is from the west? For reference, it is correctly displayed on Google maps. Thank you!

1~ 11 months agoopenedutc4nowLipmann Street entry onto Governor Drive is wider than single lane. In fact there is a white line on street that defines a right lane(for turning right onto Governor) and a lane to the left for turning left onto Governor. Tesla navigation always positions car in left lane even to turn right. This creates a dangerous accident scenario where car in rear that intends to turn right, moves up into right lane to turn right as Tesla tries to also turn right from left/center lane.
2~ 11 months agocommentedcuzi
♦7,242
Was this turning lane recently added? I am asking because on the satellite images and on Bing Streetside there is an additional lane visible that goes along the whole Lipmann Street, but the lane stops shortly before the stop line. So it doesn't seem to be a turning lanes. For turning lanes the white lines are usually connected to the stop line and there should be arrows painted.
3~ 11 months agocommentedutc4nowThe lane on right is not a “formal” right turn only lane. The white divider line extends from stop sign maybe for a couple of car lengths. So human drivers typically navigate to this “right” lane for making right turns thus essentially tracking curb. Drivers intending to turn left, navigate to “formal” lane on left, hugging center dividing line at the intersection stop sign allowing cars behind that want to turn right space to move up w/o having to wait for car making left to actually turn onto Governor. With FSD, car always positions car in the formal left side position when turning right onto Governor. This creates potential accident situation as cars behind with human drivers, likely to move up to open right lane area to prepare to turn right. In terms of newly painted lines, these streets in the neighborhood get frequent repaves and new painted lines so satellite imagery may be out of date. This is similar to issue I noted on exit lanes out of Sprouts market at Governor/Scripps street intersection. The response I got from Openstreetnap community was that intersection is mapped correctly so issue likely a FSD or alternate map source error. None of the previous comments mentioned "Bing Street". If you were trying to refer to "Bing Streetside", a blog post from Microsoft at https://blogs.bing.com/maps/May-2011/A-New-Streetside-View may clear things up.

OpenStreetMap follows the "on the ground rule" aka "Map what's on the ground" (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Good_practice#Map_what's_on_the_ground). Since the road has no painted right-turn lane, OpenStreetMap generally won't show a right-turn lane. In a previous comment, you were concerned about the way "Tesla navigation" handled the intersection. Please share your feedback with the vehicle's manufacturer.

how often are you all checking in your edits (so we don't collide)? I did a couple of these in other places and they take a while, but now after thinking of it, it's faster to just delete and sloppily redo instead of trying to merge individual pieces to preserve bits of boundary locations, but that's just opinion and hence why it's so painful...
