There are to huts named Skyvillage a bit furter south on the map, but the website mentioned on one of them is dead and nothing recent on their Facebook as well. Do they still exist at all?
32025-12-27 18:21commentedSverigeFan
♦237
After some searching on the internet I decided to remove that one point here but keep the note open: There are still *two* other entries for "Skyvillage" and from what I get from those old (< 2023) reports from tripadvisor etc. with shifting adresses the firm indeed, as Fjellrev questions, might have gone or shifted to another name and place with different offers - but I#m not sure either. So even with that one point deleted we have some more entries to validate - and I guess that will be difficult even when one is in the area. So the new task from this note is: Does Skyvillage/Skyark still exist at all and if so where? One mght check Kurravaaravägen 50, Vasikkaniemievägen 15 and Södra vägen 2...

Thanks for lifting this up and for doing some more checking. Did a little more myself now. Came over this website (Don't ask me how ;-) ) https://skysledtours.com/ which is situated at one of the addresses you mentioned. Checked it on allabolag.se - the boss was also the boss of SkyArk AB (the company behind Skyvillage) - this company was filed bankrupt in January 2025. No mentioning of the sky-village on the new companies website, so maybe this part of the business has ended (Even though the sign at the road still seems to exist...). Actually not a uncommon situation with these very active small-businesses far north.

I can't validate that it is still a sports field, but Google found this official site: https://www.nordkapp.kommune.no/kamoeyvaer-grusbane.578397.no.html where "grus" should mean something like gravel. Unfortunetely the map doesn't work on that website.

I checked the existence via the website and Instagram and added a waypoint for that shop. After looking into the website and Instagram I decided "Outdoor" might charakterize the shop better than the proposed "Sports" Anyone with better knowledge may add or correct. Open questions: Where exactly inside the house ist the shop located? Is the "Kafe Risku" still existing inside the building? I can't find it I keep the Note open until these questions are answered.

♦237
(Some;-) One could map a skitour (see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:piste:type) here if there are useful routes machting the criteria, even if nothing is visible on the ground or marked in the area. But because no one has picked up that hint for years I assume it irrelevant and will close it to reduce the cluttering of the map,

This path along with other paths are used by motorised vehicles (ATV) to access communication tower for service during off-winter time. Should the path then have some kind of tag for motorised vehicles access despite it being very rough terrain even for ATV to pass over?
22025-12-26 21:04commentedSverigeFan
♦237
God question: My opionion without having seen what you describe: Since some quads can go nearly everywhere and what you describe ist not a public access but only a usage from some especially authorized local people I see no value in adding tags like foot=yes; atv=private while it still stays a path and doesn't widen to a track (>= 2m).
32025-12-26 21:22commentedApirnus
♦2,231
I will add a bit more context. These paths are shared usage aka public path from Näköalatasanne toward two crosses and from there onward which just happen to lead to the radio tower and its service building. Being there on the top I could argue here that the path itself is pretty much public path. However, the path is definetly not >=2m wide and is just a one rocky path that just has been used so much that it resembles a path by basically working the ground in into a path. By the way, would you happen to know why there are two crosses on this mountain half way to the top? Just two crosses, made from metal bars, inserted between rock, without any signs or anything.

♦1,789
Read it more carefully now: Seems to be tentspots on this side as well (maybe more "official" on the other side)
52025-12-26 20:44commentedSverigeFan
♦237
I added some tags, even the link eisa01 provided, which might help to clarify that this site ("below" the street) is not an "usual commercial camping site", but simply a place where you can set up a tent, maybe even under the § 9 of the "Outdoor Recreation Act" if you came by bike or on foot. As far as I remember - I've been there before - cars are not allowed in the dunes on this side of the road, so no caravans or motorhomes down there. Feel free to correct and add: OSM IMHO lacks a explicit tag for "backcountry tent sites" with no infrastructure (besides a simple toilet?) or even formal designation. That brings us back to SwissMapper573: The site now has a name with a link to ist dedication as "fritidsområde", and despite the comments contain a lot of information someone might close the note after some time now?

I added most of your information as tags into the osm database. Normaly I would shut the hint imidiately afterwards. But in this case the link to the image would no longer be accessible, since links to images in StreetComplete become inacessible when the hint is closed. On the other hand hintsin OSM are no normal information tht can stay forever. Can you plese load you Photo to wikimedia or panoramax or another service where it can be permanently referenced via an image= <url> tag inside OSM? Otherwise it will get lost if the hint is closen some day...

While mapping in my chair > 2000 km south: In the aerials of MMI there is a (boarded?) footpath visible here connecting the path SE of this point with the path to the kota NW.. As the path is missing at the northwestern end the boards may have rotten or being deliberately removed. This needs local knowledge or inspection on the ground.

Hello. I have visited this area several times. There used to be a path from "Viiankijärvi kota" to "Laavu" (the path under this note), but it fell into disrepair and was officially shut down. The path you added, going east of "Viiankijärvi kota" to the viewpoint, is not visible on-site. Most of it can still be seen on satellite images because those sections were not removed, whereas the start of the path was (possibly to discourage use). This means the path under this note is no longer accessible. (And is in poor condition). The path heading south from "Viiankijärvi kota" eventually splits into two routes: one leading north to the parking lot and another heading south to this same "Laavu." The latter path was also previously closed due to poor condition, but it was reconstructed and completed around September 2024. I added this path in changeset #157145540. I didn’t extend the path going past "Laavu" as far as you did, because that section doesn’t appear on the MML topographic map. This probably means it's a part of the old, abandoned route. I plan to revisit these locations once the snow has melted.

Hi, thanks for your effort and clarification - I feared that I couldn't trust the aerials in this case. How do we go on? Do you wish me to revert all my additions or would you prefer to correct what you find ist not existing or usable in the real world? Maybe wait until the snow has melted (in May?) ? Throwing in my 2 cents: the tag trail_visibility is very useful in cases such as here. Old/partially removed/deprecated paths that are no longer very easy to see can be tagged with matching values, and different values are also rendered on the map. Check the wiki for more info https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:trail_visibility
52025-01-26 01:59closedGlobeflower

It’s not a footpath but rather duckboards (pitkospuut) built mostly over a swamp with some wooded sections. Since it’s damaged, it could be dangerous or impractical to use. However, the path might still be very visible. In my opinion. I think the path going north of "Laavu" that SverigeFan extended can remain for now, as there is likely a warning sign or other information indicating if continuing further is dangerous. It also seems like it's not blocked deliberately. However, I believe the short path heading east of "Viiankijärvi kota" to the viewpoint should be removed, as atleast the start is nonexistent. Even the sections visible on satellite imagery are uncertain whether they still function as a usable path. A visit is possible probably in the end of May, depending on flood levels. SverigeFan, that’s a shame. We just got more snow, but the temperatures are quite high :P

OSM is supposed to represent what is factually present on the ground, so if duckboards in bad condition exist, I think they should be mapped. They exist in various conditions around the country anyway, most are not in perfect condition. My 2 cents, other opinions welcome.
92025-01-26 16:14closedGlobeflower
♦24
That’s true as well. Then I guess it depends on whether the duckboards can still be used as a path. Since I don’t have this information (yet), I will personally leave these sections as they are for now. I was planning to remove the start of the path next to the kota, as I know it doesn’t exist, but the MML satellite map isn’t loading in ID or JOSM at the moment. Others are welcome to handle this as well.
