	8	~ 7 months ago	commented	keithonearth ♦1,773	Whether or not we do an import, I think it's important to be aware that the Vancouver address dataset from the CoV is not 100% accurate. There seems to be two issues with it, both of which stem from the fact that it is a map of the addresses of land parcels, not a map of all addresses. So when a single building takes up more than one parcel it has two nodes usually/always with the same address. More importantly when a land parcel has more than one address, only one is in the dataset. I've just been viewing the dataset in JOSM, looking at areas I manually added addresses to, and cannot find a single example of a building with more than one address in reality that has more than one in the dataset. When I did the building trace import, I checked on both the Wiki and the mailing list, and the only comments I got were in support of the licences being compatible, as long as the source was noted. If we do an import of addresses, I think it's important to include a fixme tag, or something else to track that the address has been imported w/o checking in person, so we can check for buildings with more than one address. The import itself wouldn't be particularly skilled, at least the way I'd do it. Open the CoV data in a separate layer in Josm, and copy and paste into the OSM layer, building by building. It would also take some pre-proccessing, so that the tags would match OSM standards, like changing streetname tags to not be in ALLCAPS.

On a Garmin device, when you select "Where to?" and then "Address", when it asks for a house number, it does not accept any characters other than numeric digits in your input, and it demands an exact match on the house number, so when you input an address that uses one of these such grouped house numbers, it will not find it. Remember that Garmin does not officially support OpenStreetMap data on its GPS devices, as it sells its own map products instead.

I will do another survey once the pipeline construction and remediation works finishes and update the access if needed.

There is a Metro Vancouver sign located at approximately 49.22878, -122.81532 that says "Private Property No Public Access" (see imgur link for a photograph of the sign). This sign suggests that the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital lands are not open to the public (the bike route goes through the hospital lands). https://imgur.com/a/AOjWoRL I have emailed Metro Vancouver to learn more details about the signage and whether access is allowed.

"The sign you noticed going towards Maquabeak Park references property outside of ƛ̓éxətəm Regional Park. That section is not a Metro Vancouver property, including the trail to Maquabeak Park. I can’t speak to if that trail is open or closed." I will follow-up with Metro Vancouver and ask that they check with the adjacent land owner (Provincial Health Services Authority) to determine the access provisions and modify their signage if access is allowed.

	11	~ 1 year ago	commented	dgryski ♦92	After reaching to a total of 8 different agencies, I finally got a positive response from Ministry of Citizens' Services, Deputy Minister's Office > Real Property Division > Asset Management Branch > Real Estate Manager saying that the sign was in fact due to construction and they will remove it next week. Here's hoping!
