There's no signage anywhere near here that says 15th Street, there's no destination signage on Glenmore or Heritage Meadows Road saying "to 15th Street", or anything of the sort. Atop the pole to which the stop sign at 13th Street is affixed there are "blade" signs which are marked "13 ST SE" and "HERITAGE DR". I think if you asked 100 Calgarians what the name of this stretch of road is the answer would unanimously be "Heritage Drive". This just so happens to align pretty closely with where 15th Street SE would fit in the street grid. If you pan north to Bonnybrook this aligns with 15th Street along the wastewater treatment plant, and further north it aligns with 15th Street in Inglewood. That's really the only reason this would ever be considered "15th Street SE". That it happens to line up here doesn't mean to me that it ought to be named as such though, given, again: it ISN'T indicated 15th Street anywhere in reality. The only real-world, tangible hint of this ever having been considered 15th Street is that the address of the driving range is 7100 - 15th Street. (https://golffanatics.ca/; scroll to the bottom) Thus, absent an adjacent street being signposted "15 Street SE", one could argue that this address can't or shouldn't exist, so by corollary this MUST be 15th Street SE because there's a place with a 15th Street SE address. I chalk this up to an anachronism is the city's addressing system, and it just so happens that this is an oddball situation where there really isn't a 15th Street SE fronting that property. IF anyone is so inclined to make this `name=15 Street SE` I would object pretty strenuously given the lack of any real-world signage. Maybe, at most, I would consider tagging this `alt_name=15 Street SE`. | |
