♦1,269		I don't quite appreciate the tone or attitude of that response, and I would implore you to be more careful about wording in an environment where tone cannot be clearly communicated. The wiki is quite clear that notes should not be used in a way that is "useless to others": https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes I'm not necessarily saying this note is useless, but I don't think it's very useful to have on the map as it provides no additional information nor requests action (such as a survey request). If we keep notes open like this, you could theoretically add a note to every building saying "tracking future use". That being said, it is just a note, and while I and others have a goal of reducing the number of notes in the UK by resolving them and updating the map accordingly, the wiki is also clear that notes should not be a place for arguing or extended discussion, and as such I will not push my position any further as it does no use to either of us. We are all working towards the same goal anyway, and I do appreciate your work and information from this note regardless. Thanks, Max.

♦6,326		People use notes for all sorts of things. Sometimes it's just "X has changed", recording details for when they can get back to a PC and can map it properly. Sometimes it is recording the state of something in a state of flux. In neither case does closing the note remotely help. Full disclosure - I'm from the DWG and we get complaints about people opening lots of notes without survey _and_ closing them (although probably more about the latter). If you have visited an area and find that a note (especially an old one) is no longer relevant then of course it makes sense to close it, but I suspect that this may not be the case here.

There is a steel pedestrian gate either side of the railway, along with a 7 bar farm gate faced with palisade, which are for access to the tracks only.

I'll close these notes and then browse here with SC and provide correct answers so that it shuts up. SC adding notes where the on-the-ground situation is correct is annoying; I personally use SC but never add notes - if something is beyond the capability of SC just edit with a proper editor afterwards,

Ich habe die Aufnahme deshalb nur als Untermauerung meines Einwandes, also als Beweis "ex negativo" gebracht, auch "anscheinend" davor geschrieben, da die Aufnahme ja schon gut drei Jahre alt ist (wobei Radweg-Freigaben eines Gehwegs extrem selten zurückgenommen werden, es sei denn, es gibt dann einen zusätzlichen eigenen Radweg.) Dennoch wurde mir zwei Minuten später bewusst, dass ich es besser beit einem Hinweis belassen hätte ("Schau bitte mal bei Streetview nach, da gibt es eine Diskrepanz zu Deinem Hinweis"). Aber leider kann man ja bei OSM einen gerade selbst verfassten Kommentar, auch wenn noch keiner auf ihn geantwortet hat, nicht mehr löschen oder verändern, auch nicht innerhalb der ersten 20 oder 30 Minuten. Ab und zu bin ich schon versehentlich auf die "Kommentieren"-Taste geraten und der Kommentar brach mitten im Wort ab oder irgendwelcher Schrott stand unbemerkt noch unter der letzten sichtbaren Eingabezeile und wurde mitveröffentlicht - da wäre eine Löschmöglichkeit eine feine Sache, ist aber leider nicht bei OSM.

Der gemischte Fahrrad / Fußweg beginnt erst westlich des Erfurthwegs (markiert durch Verkehrsschild 240, sowie "Anfang" bzw. "Ende". Ich hoffe (als Neuanfänger), dass es so passt.

Also is the western of the two parallel ways (which do really exist BTW!) best described as a bridleway at the southern end? My recollection is that it's wider and "nicer" than the eastern "public bridleway"; it'd be nice to have tags explaining that.

Imagery suggests that a separate path exists across the motorway bridge. I didn't notice signage when last here (but wasn't looking for it); but the cycle route past the Millennium Hotel is signed. Probably needs local knowledge or a survey to say what is best here.

St Paul's however, I'll grant you :) Whether a "place=city" in OSM should match "what a place calls itself" or "has a cathedral" or "places that a legally cities in the local country" or "the largest settlement or settlements within a territory" has been discussed on and off for years. The OSM wiki suggests the last of these, which might invalidate St David's and might include Reading, but current OSM tagging in IE and UK favours legal status: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/2ejy . This note follows a comment on https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/36574595 and was intended to see if that change had broad support among people who actually live in Westminster. ♦6,326		Latest OS map data isn't OSM compatible. Local PRoW data https://map.atownsend.org.uk/maps/map/map.html#16/53.9904/-2.1165/H/P likely is (OGL 3). The challenge is that council data might not match the reality on the ground (up in the North York Moors it misses far more than it hits). Many, if not most, of OSM footpaths have been surveyed. I can certainly vouch for south of Gargrave and most ways from Skipton :)

The cycle information sign also seems to suggest it is part of the national cycle network (route 52) ? What are your thoughts?

♦6,326		Well that second sign definitely looks like a yellow public footpath sign, so "designation=public_footpath" would make sense, I think. It looks like there's also a "Mines, Mines and Railways" walking route relation that could be added too. https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/3748275 is an example of that sort of thing, although that's a regional ("network=rwn") rather than a local ("network=lwn") one.

I think someone was trying to mark out their property and dragging nodes accidentally. I'd just delete them . I've added amenity=events_venue; name-Teamscapes near Highgate house named Teamscapes so the location won't be lost. Your choice.
