♦6,426		I've reactivated this since (according t the person who resolved it) it was resolved by mistake. As a bit of background, the reason that I added the note in the first places was that I use sac_scale as a hint at map.atownsend.org.uk to decide whether and how to render some paths. Commonly used values are at https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/sac_scale#values , and GoodClover's linked to the wiki above. I added the note so that someone spots it when in the area and says "I know that footpath - it should be sac_scale=hiking" or maybe "it doesn't need a sac_scale key at all".

♦4,281		According to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hounslow_West this place does exist and is given as 51.468445402964 0.38885262664087 but it is not obvious where this definition comes from or whether there should be a physical marker at that point. OSM has it mapped twice: once near this note as place=suburb and again at https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3471216198/ as place=neighbourhood. Confusingly there is also a Hounslow West ward, which is south of both places and I don't think is mapped on OSM and a Hounslow West underground station which is north of here. Duckduckgo claims that there is no official list of suburbs and https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:place%3Dsuburb does not dictate how to determine a suburb's precise location. whether a marker should exist at the mapped location. I note from the history of the node near this note that it has been deleted in the past and replaced. So unless there is some compelling reason, with the appropriate evidence, to believe that the *suburb* of Hounslow West is somewhere other than here, I propose we let it stand.

♦351		Genau genommen ist das keine Notiz, d.h. eine Anmerkung, geschweige denn ein Handlungsanweisung an andere Menschen, sondern ein Hinweis ("Einen Hinweis/Fehler zu den Kartendaten melden") und genau als solcher war das auch gedacht: als ein Hinweis bzw. Hilfe für andere, damit diese die Korrektur nicht anhand des falschen Eintrags im Kommunalverzeichnis und den daraus resultierenden fehlerhaften WP-Artikeln versehentlich wieder rückgängig machen, um so unnötige Arbeit zu vermeiden.… Anfang Oktober wird das korrigierte Kommunalverzeichnis für die Allgemeinheit verfügbar sein und dann werden diese Hinweise geschlossen … gerne kann ich aber auch schon vorab meine diesbezügliche Korrespondenz mit dem LGB hier veröffentlichen.…

♦6,426		When I drove past here a couple of weeks ago, the road layout bore no relation to what is in OSM. There was one road from the south that turned west, and one joining from the north. There were not three parallel north-south roads (though individual lanes were marked at the junction, and could be mapped as lanes).

Although it does look a little messy to look at at the moment at some point, I assume (and hope), there will be rendering for secondary road areas, as there is at the moment for residential, unclassified and service roads. As soon as this happens I'll start updating the roads in the area.

They've been recently changed from "footway" to "path" (by someone who usd to live around here) but I'm not 100% that cycle access is tolerated (foot access, from memory, is permissive - but that needs checking too as it's currently not mapped as such). Note - likely to be very muddy!

♦6,426		I think so - the question from 13 years ago was about the highway tag, not the designation (everyone's happy that the designation is "public bridleway"). The highway tag back then was bridleway (see https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/24684524/history before it was split). That was then changed to a track 4 years ago and then (with the comment "more a road than a track") unclassified. It may actually be (in OSM terms) service rather than unclassified - OS OpenData StreetView from 2016 has half of it as unclassified and half service, and current OS OpenMap Local has it as all service road. However, its definitely not a highway=bridleway, which is what my note was about :)

♦3		There is a barrier here. This is not a public road. Commercial Yard runs NE from the High Street, but then it stops. The section shown here continuing SE towards Whincup Close & Whincup Avenue is actually the forecourts of two local businesses (a printer's and a joiner's). At the corner where Whincup Avenue and Whincup Close meet this area, there is clear signage saying "Private" and "No Through Road". Additionally, Commercial Yard bears several signs along its length saying "Private" and "No Through Road", as well as an official No Through Road sign. If you use Google Street View to "look" from the end of Commercial Yard, you can clearly see the obstacle - it is a yellow metal barrier. Hope this helps (I live locally)

♦3		Sorry, but there is a fundamental underlying issue here which remains yet to be addressed. The basic problem is that at the location of this marker there is *no road* at all! ...not even a service road, and certainly not Commercial Yard which does not stretch this far. OpenStreetMap is wrong to mark a road here. It is just a gap between two buildings, a forecourt area; there is no road. If no road was marked on the map at this place then we wouldn't need to be worrying about any barriers! The true extent of Commercial Yard can readily be verified using its USRN at the official database: https://www.findmystreet.co.uk/map?usrn=16602271 You can clearly see where Commercial Yard ends, and also that there's no connection between Commercial Yard and Whincup Avenue. If you zoom in and look closely you can even see the location of the barrier. The road layout is shown correctly on the online maps of: National Highways WebTRIS North Yorks Council online map Ordnance Survey online map RAC online map AA online map arcgis.com Google Maps Streetmap It is only OpenStreetMap which is showing Commercial Yard incorrectly; however unfortunately the error now seems to have propagated from OpenStretMap to Bing, and also (I suspect) to Tomtom (I'm still trying to find somebody with a Tomtom device to confirm this). The correct resolution for the issue would be for OpenStreetMap to remove the dog-leg extension of Commercial Yard (which was introduced in version 3) so that Commercial Yard gets shown in accordance with the official database, and no longer looks like it might provide a convenient "rat-run". If some kind experienced map editor could make the necessary change that would be wonderful. Otherwise I will have to learn how to do it myself which might take a while as I'm overloaded with medical matters at the moment :(

♦6,426		It's a node that someone added 17 years ago as a place=locality from an OS Out of Copyright "New Popular Edition" map (the source on the node https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/310466863/history makes that clear). The name was still present on OS maps until at least 2016 (see the OS OpenData StreetView background that you can see in OSM editors). It's not present on OS OpenMap Local, which is not unusual - many names on OS OpenData StreetView were very historical and not current. The name on the OS map looks like the name for a cove, so this node might actually be misplaced. Have a look at NLS's NPE map of the area to see if that explains things.

♦2,985		I don't quite appreciate the tone or attitude of that response, and I would implore you to be more careful about wording in an environment where tone cannot be clearly communicated. The wiki is quite clear that notes should not be used in a way that is "useless to others": https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Notes I'm not necessarily saying this note is useless, but I don't think it's very useful to have on the map as it provides no additional information nor requests action (such as a survey request). If we keep notes open like this, you could theoretically add a note to every building saying "tracking future use". That being said, it is just a note, and while I and others have a goal of reducing the number of notes in the UK by resolving them and updating the map accordingly, the wiki is also clear that notes should not be a place for arguing or extended discussion, and as such I will not push my position any further as it does no use to either of us. We are all working towards the same goal anyway, and I do appreciate your work and information from this note regardless. Thanks, Max.

♦6,426		People use notes for all sorts of things. Sometimes it's just "X has changed", recording details for when they can get back to a PC and can map it properly. Sometimes it is recording the state of something in a state of flux. In neither case does closing the note remotely help. Full disclosure - I'm from the DWG and we get complaints about people opening lots of notes without survey _and_ closing them (although probably more about the latter). If you have visited an area and find that a note (especially an old one) is no longer relevant then of course it makes sense to close it, but I suspect that this may not be the case here.

♦2,303		If you're local maybe you could go and look i glanced at it whilst driving past over the weekend, it *looked* as if the superchargers are gone, but i didn't get a good look and I probably won't be there til September now. So yeah this site does keep changing! Given local news reports like https://www.placenorthwest.co.uk/heaton-chapel-tesla-garage-to-make-way-for-housing/ I want to continue keeping an eye on this site, a nice red mapnote helps with this. There is a steel pedestrian gate either side of the railway, along with a 7 bar farm gate faced with palisade, which are for access to the tracks only.

However as https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Ireland says, "Do not use the official online tools to find and map Eircodes, as this represents a copyright infringement!". https://nominatim.osm.org/ui/reverse.html?lat=54.251661258189046&lon=-7.141424417495728 shows more detail.

Ich habe die Aufnahme deshalb nur als Untermauerung meines Einwandes, also als Beweis "ex negativo" gebracht, auch "anscheinend" davor geschrieben, da die Aufnahme ja schon gut drei Jahre alt ist (wobei Radweg-Freigaben eines Gehwegs extrem selten zurückgenommen werden, es sei denn, es gibt dann einen zusätzlichen eigenen Radweg.) Dennoch wurde mir zwei Minuten später bewusst, dass ich es besser beit einem Hinweis belassen hätte ("Schau bitte mal bei Streetview nach, da gibt es eine Diskrepanz zu Deinem Hinweis"). Aber leider kann man ja bei OSM einen gerade selbst verfassten Kommentar, auch wenn noch keiner auf ihn geantwortet hat, nicht mehr löschen oder verändern, auch nicht innerhalb der ersten 20 oder 30 Minuten. Ab und zu bin ich schon versehentlich auf die "Kommentieren"-Taste geraten und der Kommentar brach mitten im Wort ab oder irgendwelcher Schrott stand unbemerkt noch unter der letzten sichtbaren Eingabezeile und wurde mitveröffentlicht - da wäre eine Löschmöglichkeit eine feine Sache, ist aber leider nicht bei OSM.

♦2		Hallo, ich habe mich in Open Street Map eingelesen und den Objekttyp auf "Fußweg" geändert. Damit sollte alles ok sein. Der gemischte Fahrrad / Fußweg beginnt erst westlich des Erfurthwegs (markiert durch Verkehrsschild 240, sowie "Anfang" bzw. "Ende". Ich hoffe (als Neuanfänger), dass es so passt.

♦6,426		If http://www.openstreetmap.org/way/335741975 is a public bridleway, then it must head west somewhere? I suspect it isn't and is instead a mapping error (mine), although the signage here is a bit iffy. Also is the western of the two parallel ways (which do really exist BTW!) best described as a bridleway at the southern end? My recollection is that it's wider and "nicer" than the eastern "public bridleway"; it'd be nice to have tags explaining that.

♦6,426		Need to double-check the Rutland Round signage at http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1438826#map=19/52.70156/-0.62304 - it clearly doesn't fit with the rest of the relation http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/1438826 . I added the relation membership here (along with the Viking Way http://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/404079#map=17/52.70128/-0.62288&layers=N), and did think at the time that it was the "normal" Rutland Round, but something's clearly odd.
