https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/68894847/history has shop = education shop=education ? What is the meaning of that shop value? What kind of services or products are sold here? Is anything from https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:shop or https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Category:Tag_descriptions_for_key_%22shop%22 fitting? Maybe new value needs to be invented? Maybe this data is wrong and there is no shop here? Maybe it is not a shop but something else?
2~ 24 days agocommentedWey2go
♦63
See the website as it satisfactorily question which is OK to be left "v odd2, it's a very odd "shop". Explore Maths does both help to people needing maths as well as books and all sorts of resources like CDs and web links and courses for people too. Therefore if you are satisfied with this point mark closed or this may have to go to some forum, all for the sake of its oddity. There shouldn't be a category for everything see many principles applied here in my thinking: https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relations_are_not_categories

OK, point taken books pretty much only for the enregistered of this which is in fact therefore Test prep/tuition 'facility'. Odd for a prime retail site maybe they are missing a trick not making it a bookshop but they know customers best.

How does the Feltham Park cycle route (r9708949) continue between the park and Hillingdon Road East? Is there a dropped kerb onto the carriageway?
2~ 4 months agoclosedWey2go
♦63
While there's a dropped kerb/curb there is also a gate that requires swinging; i'm not quite sure why you were incensed to write this as an editor has written it's a footpath for the final section purely and fairly obviously to discourage people thinking it was incredibly easy but everyone would appreciate your precision - I'll avoid their shorthand and fix as you say1

♦2,489
I'm not quite sure why you think I was "incensed", you seem to be reading rather a lot into a note asking any OSM user for confirmation of the situation on the ground. A cycle route which is effectively a dead for cyclists looks odd, but these things do happen due to poor planning and design by local authorities. It's worth noting that the route relation which I was enquiring about was deleted 3 years ago. You've never edited it.https://www.openstreetmap.org/relation/9708949/history

If the way is defunct this site no longer maps brief history or historic uses either, sadly. Grateful if you can avoid the big red x over the area staining its excellent mapping more generally and close your comment. I detailed more on the gate from actual inspection. I’ve said the curb is gone and you ignored me as you seized upon one word i used as emotive whereas i was just suggesting it’s no deal. It was no big deal as the way has gone it turns out.

Can I assume that you have misinterpreted the "big red x", which is the way the openstreetmap.org site represents an unresolved note, as if someone had somehow marked your work as incorrect? They're completely unrelated. This would still be the case even if you'd ever edited any of the objects in question before I added the note. Really! These are live addresses along this road (as shown by, for instance, Zoopla https://www.zoopla.co.uk/house-prices/kingston-upon-thames/hawks-road/claremont-villas/kt1-3df/#!), someone local could just wall along it and spot them. I know they are in use because, until recently, friends of mine owned one. UPRNs etc may enable this to be resolved as it's possible that the Claremont Villas houses have a separate postcode from the rest of Hawks Road. Also if they are pre-war they may be on one of the out-of-copyright map layers.
5~ 6 months agocommentedSK53
♦3,856
I've now added more information. There are pairs of semi detached houses on the S side of the road with each pair of houses having their own postcode. I've resolved a few of the building names, but not Claremont Villas (the Zoopla page is inadmissible for OSM).

Beyond number 19 are two blocks of flats, flats 1-14, 21, flats 1-14, 23 and partaking of the same road and it's in their official addresses too. Thus they have had people misdirected, or post. We can only remove the original 2021 tag once we have noted the two differing types of building, plus the numbers.

Good stuff surveying them! The house numbers should be in the addr:housenumber field rather than name; where there's multiple numbers within a single building (such as https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/840095763) and if it's obvious which part of the building they belong to, then they can be mapped as an address point (for example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3278598876). The road names could also be added in based on where they are located.
6~ 6 months agocommentedharg
♦3,616
I've changed the "names" to addr:housenumber. This will probably look no different on the map, but corrects the errors in the data and will ensure they are properly findable when searching. I've also added addr:street tags where they were missing. One likely error remains: I suspect https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/840095785/ which has no house number is probably actually a garage.
7~ 6 months agocommentedharg
♦3,616
On second thoughts, since the shape of https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/840095785/mirrors another which is a house, I suspect it has a housenumber which is missing.

water vs wood here is weirdly mapped, is the pond permanent or intermittent?
2~ 1 year agocommentedbenjamin gsk
♦18
its a new basin dug out by the preservation society. They didn't dig it level so to the east it is most permanent while the southwest corner is intermittent.

Oh yes I saw it like that in Spring when it was quite dry there. Happy with its presentation as no map can do such a rare nuance perfectly.

Is there a public footpath through here?
2~ 7 months agoclosedWey2go
♦63
No: Blackdown Close is contained (one exit/entry by whatever means). Where you've rightly pointed is between 12 & 12A which avoids any 13 existing; showing the vulgarity of mistrust in society as well as numbers but also the "exclusivity".

Agreeing with note so whole site doesn't need to be duplicated by a sub-building with same designation and symbol. This is not a completely dogmatic decision (dictatorship) and the alternative can be taken, with the note also deleted accordingly.

Most of these house had names but I didn't have time to finish surveying them. Number interpolation alone should not be used for the mapping. Survey needed.

Gates closed - a new policy according to a local - i.e. grounds need payment to enter.
2~ 1 year agocommentedBMcG
♦68
can confirm that policy change means that all gates have been locked since in 2020/21 & the only access points to the palace are now via the main gate & tow path near hampton court bridge Have adjusted gate tag to access=private I hope this satisfies the note & you willbe happy to close it
3~ 1 year agocommentedTrekClimbing
♦140
Thanks for shutting the gate as it were. I'm thinking it would be good to mark the internal paths as access=customers but I'm not sure exactly which bits you can access without paying and I'm not local.
4~ 1 year agocommentedTrekClimbing
♦140
Also, if other gates, e.g. https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/4409735507 are closed it would be good to add access=private, so routers don't take you through the park, so I think the area would benefit from survey/local knowledge. Thanks again.

by which I mean who will actually map out a cycle route when the road one is well mapped already, in national routes etc?
11~ 7 months agocommentedWey2go
♦63
you can access the golf club and its park during 07:00 to 20:00; you should not seek to use this park as a cut through but it has been done occasionally just as the towpath is the long route and the broad pavement by Bushy Park the short one.
12~ 7 months agocommentedWey2go
♦63
thus it's more complicated than just one or two gates and if they tend to be open, the signs are complex too.

Unable to answer "Is there a shelter at this stop?" for https://osm.org/node/469773426 via StreetComplete 53.3: Incorrectly situated. Bus stop is on the other side of Old Bridge Street. Attached photo(s): https://westnordost.de/p/165857.jpg

Has been moved correctly (to the east side of the street); furthermore there is no shelter and this has been made I would say now showing that.

You have set the house number but the satellite image is invalid. In the absence of any new satellite data I suggest making number 19 a generic rectangle, on the same level of house numbers 21 and 15, roughly where it would be located now.

I'm not sure how to tag this building, which is attached to the church. It seems to be a hall in which local events may take place, some of them non-religious. Perhaps amenity=community_centre is appropriate? I believe this building has a similar purpose to Vine Hall (on Vine Road).
2~ 7 months agocommentedWey2go

while this map is not to tramline usage, it is community hall, a centre would connote public-serving staff at more than one time in a blue moon.
