The road was blocked by dirt berms by Gulf Brook, and just north of the water treatment plant, so the street parking shown there is not usable. That was the purpose of the note. The street itself is dirt, steep downhill, and was badly eroded from the berm to the brook. It would be passable by a high-clearance vehicle, but I imagine the town didn't want to deal with any liability. I haven't been back to verify if anything changed. | ||

OpenStreetMap maps things as they are "on the ground", which includes proof of illegality - what would really help here is any kind of public statement indicating that use of trails not on the trail map is not allowed - a sign on the property, or any kind of indication on the trail map on that page that indicates that would help get this trail properly tagged as not being allowed. I hope that helps and am not trying to debate either - I think we likely want the same thing here. | ||

I suspect at some point they likely added the ditch to improve drainage and to keep it from overflowing into the neighborhood. So I cut out some of the MP and made it a swamp. I added some streams. There is so little elevation change it's just a best guess. I just thought it looked too weird to not have something in that section. I also very tempted to remove the stream and add some kind of different wetland there instead. A marsh? A wet_meadow? I think this is just one of those cases where the natural world doesn't like fitting into our categories. | ||
