Do we have a source for calling this "the secret waterfall"? Doing an internet search for "The Secret Waterfall, Wales" give a different location https://explorestronger.co.uk/secret-waterfall-hike-in-snowdonia-wales/ Other one is in the Brecon Beacons. One site does refer to "Blaenau Ffestiniog's hidden waterfall walk" But that is to the east of Festiniog. https://www.loveouradventures.com/post/rhaeadr-cymerau-coed-cymerau-isaf-blaenau-ffestiniog

someone added this sign about 10 months ago https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/3756078697/history but i also think its tourist nonsense and shouldnt be mapped as name
3~ 5 months agocommentedRichard Morris Salix
♦38
There are two slate signs, one in Welsh, one in English, that name this, and give a history. The signs were constructed by "Slate Heritage International" a private company. You can see the sign on certain inadmissible mapping apps.

maybe its the name that ZipWorld gave to it? If this is a part of ZW that is (I meant 10 years ago with my last comment! probably didn't have my glasses on!)

i'm going to assume that this is a ZipWorld attraction

Spoke to a local resident, who says this was planted in 1509 to celebrate birth of Henry VIII, but cannot verify.

Looks like this path has now been mapped
3~ 2 years agoreopenedRaccoonFederation
♦4,914
I don't think it has been surveyed and might not exist. Some people add footpaths based on PROW data but I don't like to do that unless there is visual evidence of the footpath as well.

♦725
Ah fair, I confess I'm mostly only familiar with Scotland mapping so PROWs (and associated mapping behavior) is beyond my experience. I'll re-open the other note I closed (https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/3000476) for the same reason then.

Survey this today, will edit map tomorrow. There are public footpaths, to SSW and NW. There is also a permissive path going north to "lombard". There is a small post here with disk with arrows indicating fp directions.

1~ 1 year agoopenedRonaWightmanLondon Road and Marlborough Road need updating following 2024 Active Travel scheme. Traffic Lights at junction, with cycle only and pedestrian only phases. Includes two stage right turn pockets for turning right off London Road. Contraflow cycle lane on Marlborough Road. https://storymaps.arcgis.com/collections/d398ab88e56b4461a033343e36148574?item=3

Cycle contraflow and cycle only lights at end of Marlborough Road now mapped. Will check tomorrow for other three lights.
3~ 10 months agocommentedRichard Morris Salix
♦38
No special light for cycles on London Road. There are signs advising crossing in two stages with marked places for cycles to wait before turning right. Not sure how to map these.
4~ 10 months agocommentedRonaWightmanThe cycle lights are on Keyfield Terrace and Marlborough Road contraflow. I don't know how to map the two-stage right turns, actually, the reason I leave notes is I don't know how to edit the map.
5~ 10 months agocommentedRonaWightmanAre you able to add the contraflow cycle lane on Marlborough Road to the map?
6~ 10 months agocommentedRonaWightmanThere are also two stage right turn pockets on Victoria Street and the ASL on Marlborough Road gets a cycle green a couple of seconds ahead of the general green.
7~ 10 months agocommentedRichard Morris Salix
♦38
Cycleway on Malbrough Rd. Is already mapped, using the cycleway:right=lane options rather than as a separate way. See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:cycleway
8~ 10 months agocommentedRonaWightmanThanks Richard! I was not looking at the right map layer, durr. Hmm, but the London Road traffic lights don't show on the 'Cycle Map; layer - is there a time lag for changes showing up?

Unable to answer "Which direction leads upwards for these steps?" for https://osm.org/way/170320226 via StreetComplete 51.1: Set of stairs both up and down very close to each other. Attached photo(s): https://westnordost.de/p/135275.jpg
2~ 1 year agocommentedRonaWightmanThey are giving access to upper level of shopping centre - TK MAxx, Library and Theatre are all on first floor level and levels of multistorey car park park
3~ 10 months agocommentedRichard Morris Salix
♦38
I survey these today, with a dodgy GPS trace. There are 7 levels -3, -2, -1, G, 1, 2, 3. Level G is main entrance. Level 2 has access to Library, Malting Theatre, TK Max and toilets, with a foyer. All other levels just have access to the steps, three elevators and the car-park level. I've attempted to map level 2, but not other levels.

model railway club has a club=* tag I think, unlikely that it's an amenity=community_centre but not implausible

I've removed the community_centre tags. Club=model railway adequately describe this.
35886941~ 3 years agoopenedBlackSocksWifeUnable to answer "Who is allowed to park here? Parking may be free or paid." for https://osm.org/way/150456459 via StreetComplete 51.1: It needs to be divided into two sections. Once section (closer to London Road is only for certain business customers), the other section is any member of the general public paid parking.

I've split the car park, and added approximate resrtictions: access=customers to the northern part, and access=yes + fee=yes to the southern part. Could you check the split is in the right place? Also, I wonder if access=private would be better for the northern part.
3~ 3 years agocommentedBlackSocksWifeLooks good re split. Unsure on definition of northern part.

I checked the sign on norther part and its for the Samuel Ryder Hotel. Added an customers tag.

The footpath is marked on most map, inc Council Map, but no on the ground indication that it exists. There is no obvious way to cross the stream.
