The route of the brown dot dash line heading NE right up to Ridgeback Lane is all part of Ruscombe Lane, as is the white road S into W Milton. This is confirmed on FMS https://www.findmystreet.co.uk/map search for USRN 43201293 but also on all other maps. NB Devon Explorer calls it Runscombe but this is a typo, you can select historical maps to see the correct spelling from the 1800s https://gi.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/dorsetexplorer#map=17.18/50.77160/-2.70306/0&layers=175/100/100//,85/100/100//,2/100/100//,15/100/100//&basemap=1/100/100 |
| 5128412 Category: Unknown | 1 | 2026-01-13 21:37 | opened | mike wain | There is a through route here that can clearly be seen on aerial photography and can also be found on DCCs Dorset Explorer selecting Public Transport and Unclassified Roads. See https://gi.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/dorsetexplorer#map=16.55/50.92560/-2.47104/0&layers=85/100/100//,1598/100/100//&basemap=1/100/100 It is fully legal for all traffic as an Unclassified Road, but is a 'green lane' and so should be annotated to keep it from being used by sat navs to route normal road users as you need a vehicle with off-road capability. It's also shown on FMS - See https://www.findmystreet.co.uk/map?gclid=CjwKCAjw0dKXBhBPEiwA2bmObXMelI05_367BYPNCGE4hGPzRaiZM0KBb72aujq-uzngVI9zNFo1ZhoCoOUQAvD_BwE The continuation S of the A3030 to Down Lane should also have the same attributes. |

It's legal for all traffic but you couldn't get a car down it so make sure it has the right permissions so sat navs don't start using it! Route is a straight line just NE of the green line on the map now, from the junction of Greenhouse and Howgrove to the bend in green lane just N of the green line. You have to continue to the roundabout and come back heading SSE and make a L onto the B4278 on a slip road that isn't shown on your map. |

| 4 | 2025-04-17 16:08 | commented | mike wain | This is a ridiculous discussion comment. The source of this information is me, not Google maps, I merely direct you to that to illustrate what I'm saying. Clearly I wouldn't do that if was incorrect. However, here's an updated version of the comment without the helpful link to show the junction. This junction is wrong. When heading NNW on the A4058 sat navs will route a R turn but this junction is no right turn. You have to continue to the roundabout and come back heading SSE and make a L onto the B4278 on a slip road that isn't shown on your map. | |

Taya is right in that we can't use Google Maps though, it's not "ridiculous". See https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Google for more information I've had a go at updating it for you based on your description, but as I don't live here it may not be correct. Could you please check? Diolch Ceirios | |

| 8 | 2025-05-29 23:06 | closed | mike wain | Hi Ceirios, don't know if you'll ever see this, but I wan't suggesting you should just base the change on Google maps and totally agree that you shouldn't make changes just based on Google maps, or even them and me. The link to Street View was just a good way to illustrate what I was telling you. How you validate what I say is up to you. The ridiculous bit is just closing the comment without doing anything when I've stated clearly what the problem is and provided illustration. Anyway, I've run a check and the sat nav doesn't try to turn R there when heading NW, but now goes on NW, round the roundabout and back to turn L as you have to in real life, so it looks like you've aced it. Nice work! | |
| 4713827 Category: unknown | 1 | 2025-04-16 22:01 | opened | mike wain | This is called "The White Bridge" and it is now fully open to motor traffic. You can search online to see this but we rode over it today. Please adjust so that open map based sat navs will use it. |

| 4703470 Category: unknown | 1 | 2025-04-10 00:31 | opened | --- | Please amend this cut through to remove any public right of way, particularly for motor vehicles. It is a completely private road and your mapping is allowing sat navs to route through it illegally. Search USRN USRN: 36607928 on findmystreet.co.uk to see that it's not a street, https://www.streetmap.co.uk/map?x=364500&y=127500&z=120&sv=woolston&st=3&tl=Map+of+Woolston,+Somerset+[City/Town/Village]&searchp=ids&mapp=map to see it's not a PROW. |

| 4656504 Category: unknown | 1 | 2025-03-08 19:52 | opened | mike wain | At this point there is a locked gate because the 'roads' to NW and SW are both Footpaths and not legal for motor traffic. My open map based sat nav routed me through this illegal and impassable route today. Please correct the permissions on these 2 stretches of lane to correct this. Submitted on behalf of the Trail Riders Fellowship. |

| 4656480 Category: unknown | 1 | 2025-03-08 19:31 | opened | --- | Back Lane is a Restricted Byway so not legal for through motor traffic. Please adjust the permissions as my open map based sat nav tried to route me up it today. Luckily I noticed the sign and understood what it meant and avoided breaking the law. North Croft (the E end of the same lane) is not a RB and is legal for motor traffic, as is the Byway Open To All Traffic heading N (brown dot/dash line). Where that meets Back Lane/North Croft is where the RB ends. |

FMS correctly maps this street and Street View clearly shows the A38 barriers are unbroken. |
