Is this somewhere that can be added? The street is Nita Avenue, Gearhart, OR. It’s an extension of Nita Avenue that dead ends into G street. Like I said, I don’t know how this works, but I’m having troubles getting mail and packages delivery, as my address a nd street aren’t in some maps. As you can see, there are several houses on the road, but the road itself is not showing on the map, or the addresses of the homes…Help appreciated!

♦12,108		Okay I am not familiar with CoMaps so I may be of limited help. (I usually use the web client iD which is tough to use if not on a desktop computer.) Hopefully there's a way to edit individual tags, tags are a key identifier and a value. Right now there's a shop=electrical ... what you want to do is change "shop" to "man_made" and "electrical" to "works". These keys/values are though free form, have a bunch of standard keys and values to make it easier to search. If there's no option to directly change the key and value in CoMaps and don't have another way to edit it (Vespucci can do it though I've struggled with it) I can go ahead and edit it on my PC. Let me know.

This is marked as an "intermittent basin" which means it's a low area that is frequently or usually dry from any water, and is only wet when there's a large rainstorm that may otherwise flood the nearby neighborhood. While if it's never been wet might well delete it but based on no nearby streams to dump excess rainwater into, this is fairly common practice in city planning to ensure houses don't get flooded. Please reopen this if you think this still isn't quite right.

However if not this then what is? I don't know. The main street is already named main street and that I agree with. However everything else seems questionable.

♦11		2022-12-21: I've re-worked the traffic circle (previous build had some disconnected pathways) according to several roundabout tutorials and OSM wiki. However, testing a car navigation route across HWY 9 routes north and around, rather than through the circle as it should. I don't know if this is a legitimate issue with how I set it up, or just lag time for all the changes to cache up and sync. Will need to review this in a few days and see if the routing automagically improves, or if this still needs some love.

♦11		Traffic circle is definitely there. It's been in for a few weeks in preparation for the new Costco that just opened up west of the circle. I increasingly suspect my use of turn rules in the roundabout are contributing to the routing issues. Logically they make sense, but it's possible routing systems are just not a fan. I'll continue to investigate.

♦12,108		If they completely drained it and used it as unremarkable farmland, probably best to just delete the wetland/lake. But be careful. though probably not in this situation, I've seem some seasonal wetland that depend on time of year the satellite imagery photographs it.

♦80		I drove past the spot at least once a month for two years and can confirm that this is not the case. There were a couple dips that sometimes held a little water, but even during a really rainy year it was pretty dry. As mentioned in my initial note, these lake beds are not really intermittent lakes like they're currently mapped. I'd imagine there's some mix of farmland and wetland within the footprints, but intermittent lake is definitely not the best way to map lakebeds around here. Unfortunately, I no longer do work in this area so I can't give good detail on what actually sits within these footprints now. I do know that the majority has been turned into farmland with drainage networks. There are certainly some seasonal wet areas still.

If they source the data from here then yeah, as seen, OSM does have the peak marked here, so it seems to be an app problem or an expectation by the app that's not satisfied by the data. There is a dance that needs to be done between OSM data and any apps and unfortunately I'm not familiar with how komoot uses data, and what it specifically needs to propagate. Perhaps telling us a peak that does show up will let us backtrack why it doesn't show up, else really this is an app problem not a data problem. They should be the ones telling us why it doesn't show up. If you wish to let us reverse engineer why something isn't showing up you can pm me or reopen/add data else this is an app issue.

It looks like at least a few of the osm routers will route properly if the actual house object is selected as the target destination. how far off the road is the target marker for you when you search?

If I put the gps on what it will do register the house as the correct address but in the step by step section it routed me to the church next door 7225 pence road and it makes like a curved dotted line from there to the house, and I interpret that kinda like saying just walk from the church to the house. Issues is you can’t do that because there are trees and woods in between the church and the house. When I put my Tesla on full self drive mode it’ll send me to the church. Sometimes it’ll recognize it needs to turn at the private road but majority of the times it doesn’t and I have to take over and turn into the road/driveway.

I’m new to mapping Lawrence and am trying to determine if this is an actual issue or just the local convention. It has had this tagging for over a decade, and the way landuse is handled in Lawrence is a bit different than what I saw when mapping Paola KS. So I decided to ask before changing it. So I'd prefer that these notes be used on mistakes or known but not mapped, rather than unknown...

♦12,108		Well not saying these are bad, just that too many is bad (sort of like if it's a few it's important, if there are too many of them, then who is important?) IMHO I'm not sure what the fixme tag is good for other than a small issue that can be resolved at a later date but the current data is "acceptable for now" however you want to interpret it. It would be nice for anyone to have information added to actually supply that information when red X'ing. Saying something is blank or wrong and not saying what the problem is...frustrating. But yeah overpass queries or any software that uses that is the general way to find unnamed buildings. Even streetcomplete has a challenge to name/fix and possibly even find outdated data. I just find it redundant to red x/flag a unnamed building or street. However if one notices a building or streetname is simply wrong or obsolete, then red x'ing it is very appropriate as there's no way for a computer to know (perhaps with AI?) Okay off my soapbox. Take with grain of salt. What I say here does not imply other people of OSM agree with me, but in general I think it would make general mappers' lives easier. Again having an X is not bad, just that having too many of them that would take forever to resolve just pollutes the map. (Wish it was possible to vote on priority so we could bump up the more important ones...)

This appears to be supported by many navigation apps but not OSRM. I took a shot at updating the tags and tested with OsmAnd and it seems to be working correctly for me after the change (though it was indeed broken before). I used month/day tags instead of seasonal tags for better compatibility with navigation apps, although the dates will vary slightly year to year. Someone please let me know if you're aware of a better way to tag these. A couple other things related to comments here...First, some apps allow routing through gates/private areas as a navigation setting. Second, in some apps I've used, map updates are tied to app updates, so when someone sees changes will depend on both when the developers of the app release an update and when the user installs the update...which can sometimes be a while.

But after reading the OSM wiki again, it appears that access:conditional=<condition> is preferred for seasonal roads (https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:seasonal). Seasonal for a gate is also ambiguous, as it notes when the feature is "active or usable"...when the gate is active the Parkway is not usable, which is unclear IMO. My software comment was based on the table from the OSM wiki showing that access:conditional=@winter (which I would prefer because the open/close dates vary by year) is not supported by *any* navigation software listed there, while access:conditional=@Dec15-Mar01 (which I used) is supported by roughly half.

There's millions of missing buildings in the US cause as you're finding out they're very tedious to add. Look into JOSM and the building plugin. It makes adding buildings about twice as fast.

So now I only draw commercial buildings so I or other people can put POIs on them. So basically if you like to look at houses I think these are the people who should look into drawing the houses. Since nobody is drawing houses here and there are plenty of other regions of the map that lack houses too I'm going to close this note unless someone is willing to step up to the plate and start adding them.
