salut,

Hello,
One more question - I'm not sure what is meant by "orthograph" here? Is it to do with correcting the way that tall buildings have been traced?
Best Regards,
Andy
22019-06-27 12:30Privatemajory No, it's not about the shape, it's about likely bad written key/value. For example, Osmose signals all name=* values written all in uppercase, probably with the argument that acronyms should go to short_name=* and name=* shouldn't have an acronym.
32019-06-27 12:38Privatemajory What I changed in this changeset, in "name":
TOTAL -> Total
SHELL -> Shell
Chateau d'Eau -> Château d'Eau
BANGWE LAMDJI -> Bangwe Lamdji
Hotel de Ville de Tahoua -> Hôtel de Ville de Tahoua

Are all of those name changes, especially the french accents, really valid? I can think of lots of old placenames that started out as one language but became incorpororated into a second more recent language - think of all the french-based names in the USA, for example - many of those no longer use...
52019-06-27 13:31Privatemajory You're right. But here the objects are in french speaking countries that's why I'm quite sure it was a typo.
About the names, yes "Château d'Eau" and "Station Shell" or "Station Total" seem to be just descriptions but I'm not sure about t...

Hello,
In this changeset you've removed the "shop=yes" tag from http://osm.mapki.com/history/way.php?id=576014357 . Have you added anything that indicates that there is actually a shop of some sort there?
Best Regards,
Andy
22019-06-27 06:51Privatemajory Hello Andy.
I was confused as these were listed in Osmose issues (http://osmose.openstreetmap.fr/en/byuser/Privatemajory). However, I've just checked and the tag seems to be in use and shouldn't be a problem. Now I regret I "fixed" these "issues". Please take my apolo...

Hello,
Unfortunately Osmose's suggestions aren't always something you can use to "fix" with directly. In some cases it might be clear from imagery (including Mapillary or similar) that there's a convenience store there, but most of the time it's just a prompt for a lo...

Hi Majory - where did you source that this is a typo? As well as the name being an acronym, which would typically be spelt with dots, official signage shows the dots. See: http://aupaysdelando.over-blog.com/2016/02/le-parc-villageois-v-o-i-m-m-a.html
22018-04-16 10:10Privatemajory Hi Conor. Thanks for the topic. I've never seen in any document (official or scientific), even those specific to forestry, where VOI (acronym for "Vondron'Olona Ifotony") was spelt "V.O.I.". This is the same for most commonly used acronyms in malagasy names such as EPP,...

Thanks for the response Majory and good point regarding the common use of Malagasy and French acronyms without dots. The title should really be what is officially used by the entity. I guess this rules out using the full 'Vondron'olona Ifotony Mitia sy Miaro ny Ala' as - although this...
42018-04-16 12:12Privatemajory I wouldn't say using dots is inappropriate. And yes, some organisations do use it officially while some don't. Finally I think either way is OK. But on the OSM side, I think it would just be better to uniformize such common acronyms for when you do a query later. It's only a personal ...

Privatemajory - apologies for my late response. Maybe I should rephrase my statement about appropriateness to say I believe it to be somewhat inappropriate to use dots in a name of an organisation if the acronym, abbreviated name, is the dominant name used by the organisation.

This is not to say ...

Hello! In this changeset, you deleted nine level-9 boundary relations. Were they invalid? Or did you delete them by mistake? Your changeset comment doesn't say much. Please justify your edit!
22015-11-04 13:57Privatemajory Hi, I just updated the firaisam-pokontany boundaries, the source for the previous limits (also drawn by myself) were outdated so I decided to remove them all and make new ones. The boundaries are to date now. Thank you.
