Hi, something looks very weird with the two 'reverts' you did... if you look at the history of https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/585383651 it looks like you ended up deleting a bad tag change or something? Not sure exactly of the intent but something seems wrong here
2 ~ 3 years agoSherbetS The data in this import is below the quality I would consider useful for openstreetmap. I reverted the eddit offhand in JOSM last night and set all conflicts to others versions

Can you explain what you are seeing that is problematic?
3 ~ 3 years agogpserror
♦231
It looks like version 1, h4ck3rm1k3 did the initial POI 12 years ago. Then in version 2, h4ck3rm1ke touched it again and changed man_made=mine.

Then in version 3 you added land_use=quarry, which is probably not correct. But then in version 4, you deleted the POI.

I would expect the POI resto...

Hmm... so that 12 year old data was incorrect perhaps? Now I really don't understand what's going on here.
6 ~ 3 years agoSherbetS Yes. I was analyzing a sample of this data to assess the quality as a part of another import im working on.

This user imported all this data without reviewing any of it using a bad tagging scheme. Since they data was already of very low quality I decided it would be better to revert the change.

Hate to bump the thread. Ran across a bad node that wasn't successfully reverted at the time:

Found another here as well:

I see some odd tagging happening along the Pinhoti trail relation. Seems like tags for the relation were applied to the highway ways (like a distance tag). There was a road walk section where the road was a residential highway tagged with motorcycle=no (yet cars could still use it).

it might be OK to change `mast:type=communication` to `tower:type=communication` but this still needs a discussion in advance if you want to perform this change on a larger scale like Sven (aka streckenkundler) mentioned. But there is no benefit to remove `mast:type=*` with other values. Probab...

For mass edits, I expect a list beforehand of what is to be exchanged. Pure deletion is not possible at all! That must be ruled out!
This mass edit must be announced in advance and discussed within a reasonable time.

That's why I think a complete revert is necessary here!

This is a unwanted and undiscussed mass edit. The towers in question are the largest and the main communication towers ("hovedsendere") in Norway, which constitute the core radio network.

4 ~ 4 years agoGazer75
♦293
You changed them all from communication_tower to tower. Those two are not the same. The wiki is kind of confusing on this unfortunately.
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:man_made%3Dcommunications_tower
5 ~ 4 years agoSherbetS in my interpretation, a tower is a structure with places to stand, while a communications tower is a tower that is greater than 100 meters tall. I downloaded all the objects with man_made=communications_tower and changed any that I found didn’t meet this specification.
6 ~ 4 years agoNKA

The 100 meters mentioned in the wiki is just an indication, not a strict limit. Your mechanical edit has destroyed a carefully curated selection of special communication towers in OSM for Norway.
