This boundary way should not be closed, it is part of other boundaries

Wouldn't it be cleaner to map this as tags of the road itself?
---

Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.org/changesets/147040927
2 ~ 2 years agoakadouri I updated the area to parking=street_side & the way to parking:left=separate.

I would be fine removing the area and tagging the road with parking:left=street_side. I'm not familiar with which is more common.

A method of adding to street VS area may work better in one area than another. It can get pretty abstract when counting spaces, handicap, and maximum allowed parking times left / right and as a result the street could be chopped into many pieces along a block

♦3,532
Could use https://zlant.github.io/parking-lanes/ to make parking tagging easier.

Shouldn't it rather be tagged as https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:crossing:island instead of https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag%3Atraffic_calming%3Disland?

Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.org/changesets/146499130
2 ~ 2 years agoakadouri crossing:island (https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1Ggf) is more typically the tag used on the crossing way or node (though I see it is used a lot on areas as well in the taginfo stats...)

The areas are more commonly tagged as traffic_calming=island (https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1Gga)

Shouldn't it be "Company" and not "Co"? Their website and logo mentions the full word
---

Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.org/changesets/139459333
2 ~ 2 years agoakadouri The signs (second location https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/7006950444) in front both say "Co" but I guess that may be just to save space and the logo design. I could move "Co" to alt_name for search to pick it up.

According to https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:crossing:island

"traffic_calming=island – A traffic island that is not built as a refuge at pedestrian crossings, but to calm traffic." 🤔
---

Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.org/...
2 ~ 3 years agoakadouri Yeah I go back and forth on it, technically this calms traffic and is also used by pedestrians.

landuse=traffic has been abandoned.

crossing:island=yes seems to be for nodes.

area:highway=traffic_island is another option.

I'm not sure it really matters to tag an island as whether or...

I don't read German so I can't tell, but is that an accepted and documented tag or just some terminology they are playing around with?
---

Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.org/changesets/122689589
2 ~ 3 years agoakadouri It's not an accepted tag, it's not even proposed yet. I'm not sure if it's the best way to document curb extensions but I think it would be ok as a marker to remember where they are for now.

I used Chrome's "Translate This Page" feature to read that wikipage.

"crossing=marked" is for crosswalks with stop sign. crosswalks with traffic lights are "crossing=traffic_signals"
2 ~ 4 years agoakadouri I have updated the ones I could confirm. https://www.openstreetmap.org/edit?way=610035984

I have no doubt made this mistake many times in the past, I could have sworn there was a way to notate both the paint status and traffic control status...
3 ~ 4 years agoMxxCon
♦3,532
I'd imagine you could list both with ";", but wouldn't "traffic_signal" imply that it's marked? Other than temporary after repaving, are there any traffic light crosswalks without stripes?
4 ~ 4 years agoakadouri Here is one in Flushing, https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/936536474

It is pretty uncommon, a few of the other one my query flagged were improperly tagged.

It looks like there were some proposals like this one to separate the marked/unmarked tags and signal control but it doesn't look lik...

Is that intersection actually pedestrian signal but permanently no markings? Looking at Bing satellite it looks like much darker asphalt, so perhaps just brand new pavement but didn't get around to putting down crosswalk paint? Bing streetview imagery shows very worn-out crosswalk paint, but it...
6 ~ 4 years agoakadouri I'm not sure, I guess it could have been painted since the last re-pavement. It doesn't seem like it's common enough around here to worry about having to tag both cases.

I guess I'll slowly re-tag `crossing=marked` as `crossing=traffic_signals` as I come by them since that do...

As far as I remember, that pedestrian pathway's surface is just asphalt and not cement slabs as typical sidewalks.

Is that the correct location of the new ferry terminal? None of the satellite imagery shows any infrastructure there.

Published using OSMCha: https://osmcha.org/changesets/115496220
3 ~ 4 years agoakadouri I copied the location from the NYC Ferry mobile app's map. It doesn't look like they have it on their website anywhere. I don't know if it's exactly that spot but based on that and some descriptions of the shuttle I can't find anymore I believe it's near there.

Hi akadouri, thanks for adding this. I rode the ferry this afternoon and recorded it. You can see the trace at https://ridewithgps.com/trips/80747355. You're a little too far north on the landing spot at the Ferry Point Park end of the route.

2 ~ 5 years agoakadouri That's strange, I was trying not to touch it...I'm wondering if ID messed with it because I disconnected footpath paths nearby? I don't know if any of them were actually touching the relation though.

3 ~ 5 years agoakadouri I asked on the OSMUS Slack and it looks like it probably happened when I split the footpath from the relation way over here. https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/827743932/history#map=19/40.65862/-73.98533
