"Needs updating" how? I live right near here, and would be glad to go by and take a look if that helps.
2 ~ 1 year agowireguy The outline for the college seems to need updating. Looks like it includes a garage/mechanic next door. Also, some buildings may be vacant. thx.

That CCP address include car maintenance as part of its curriculum and has a garage on-site, so it's quite possible that it's correct.

I can go by and take a look to be sure.

I drove past here an hour ago.

This is actually two buildings and a parking lot. I separated the buildings. The northwest building is divided into two spaces, the north half is vacant and the south half is the Speedy Lube.

There seemed to be two separate ways for the CCP boundary; I delete...

Thanks for the update. I cannot outline a shape to accommodate the address tag; if the address tag is outside of the building shape, the address tag should be dragged into the proper location, not the other way.

Some of the building footprints here had some small bad geometry. They do seem to be caught by the JOSM validator so just be on the lookout.

I also suspect that the chunk of buildings with housenumber 12021 may need specific of different address info. If that's the case I've been leavin...

3 ~ 3 years agowireguy Watmildon, thanks for making the corrections. It's odd. I run the validator multiple times while I'm making the changes, and fix many issues. There are several times that it misses spikey buildings or small overlaps. I've seen a few MR spikey building updates fixing things. T...

When I did the Indianapolis address import, if the address were somewhat suspicious, I would leave addresses off the buildings entirely and place an address node near the "middle" of the building group with the one address. My hope was this would ...

Hi,

be careful with roles : outer is only for ways, for nodes you have the choice between admin_centre and label, see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Relation:boundary

I fixed it.

Best regards

Hello,

In Taginfo the tag kerb=lower drew my attention. It looks like this tag-value is used mostly (or only) by you:

https://taginfo.openstreetmap.org/keys/kerb#values

Could this be a misspelling of kerb=lowered? Are there data consumers that specifically expect kerb=lower?
2 ~ 3 years agowireguy Yep, seems like a typo.
3 ~ 3 years agoJeroenHoek
♦716
Thanks.

I've documented it as such on the wiki:

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Key:kerb#Possible_tagging_mistakes

You sure mapped a lot of kerbs! Nice.

Hi Wire Guy,

Suggest you use MAXAR Premium imagery, it is more current, you will notice most these buildings no longer exist. They tend to be temporary anyway as it is a flood plain and the 'buildings' are built by fishermen when the water levels drop then they move away when it rises a...

do beginners like https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Brent%20Haselhoff/history get money from AWS for their contribution?

I know that you are a volunteer, very productive along with it. Are these mappers AWS employees or is AWS sponsoring the Hackathon?

I appreciate you've spent time tidying up the stuff that was imported here, but I'm concerned that as we don't know the source of the original data, we have no way of knowing whether it is licence-compatible with OSM (all attempts at communicating with the original importer fa...

Thanks for fixing this! I've been trying to figure out what was wrong with the updated boundary relation for a few days now. It queried OK but would not render on the default map layer. I guess that weird area with the 2 touching regions was the problem.

It looks like you slightly offset 2 parts of the boundary to fix it. Were they actually overlapping, or was just touching enough to break it? I mapped it as 2 separate areas because one is restricted access. I meant to have them touch but not overlap. I would like to know what I did wrong, for fut...

Hello. Thanks for mapping here.
A rather difficult job due to the bad imagery
Best is to check the Bing imagery as well to get a better view about the building in this dense area.

Hi wireguy - Thanks for your work on the island. However, I have always seen the mapping of sidewalks as separate ways as not ideal. It complicates walking directions and crowds up the map. For example, look at the south side of Ocean Street on the bay side. The sidewalk just ends halfway down the b...

One thing that would be worth keeping is the crossing nodes on streets though -- that is very useful to navigation! Otherwise, take a look at the discussion pages on the wiki for more info on what I'm talking about.
3 ~ 5 years agowireguy Notice that I didn't start in Holgate. I wasn't sure how I wanted to handle the patchwork of sidewalks. In a beach town people just use streets as walkways.
For Beach Haven, I liked separate ways, so curb lower and tactile paving can be expressed where it exists.
I'll pause...
