You deleted "Wessex Court" in this edit didn't add the name back to the replacement way. This has broken a match against OS Locator: https://ris.dev.openstreetmap.org/oslmusicalchairs/map?osl_id=957117
2 ~ 6 years agojojoyal Hi robert,

The edit was made as per the latest image available. It is not sure whether the same name still exists or not. Please let me know what to do in this scenario.
1. Can we align the same road that was offset?
2. Create a new road and add a note here so that local users may fix it?

Is there a reason why you removed the tag service=parking_aisle from the ways in this changeset that run along the rows of parking spaces?

According to the wiki (see https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:service%3Dparking_aisle) the ways that run along the rows of parking spaces in a parking lo...

I think it would have been better to merge the footpath with the start of the service road, rather than having 2 highways on top of each other.
2 ~ 6 years agojojoyal Hi,

Thanks for commenting on the edit. I will follow the same going forward in these situations. It's a perfect edit from your side. Thanks for making changes to the edit.

jojoyal.

Hi,
looks like something went wrong here?
Could you please check the service roads again.

Hello,
What was the source for your access change on https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/344290913#map=19/51.67364/-3.11478 here?
Best Regards,
Andy
2 ~ 6 years agojojoyal Hi,

Thanks for looking into my edit. I added motor_vehicle access tag to two roads in this case.* https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/344290913* https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/344290912
This was added with reference to our delivery agents GPS traces and from the vehicles that were parked in the...

Also you must absolutely not be using streetview. It is a copyright source which we do not have permission to use.

Hi ndm,

Thanks for the update. As you have suggested, it is clearly visible in the Mapillary images and the Access should be “NO”. Also in the Mapillary Image it is shown that the Buses can use that road. Should we also change “MotorCycle =NO” for the segment?

Hi trigpoint,

The editor had used the “Bing Street Side” available in OSM and not the “Street View”. We do not use any Third party source to make our edits.
Please let us know if you have any other suggestions. We will be happy to learn from the OSM community.

I think this one needs reverting - you've deleted the parking that was surveyed on foot and dragged a building to an odd shape.

Hello ndm,

The newly added service roads with gates is a more accurate representation than the parking aisles that were drawn over the parking spots were. However, in doing the edit in unintentionally altered one of the building polygons that were attached to the deleted parking lot as seen in ht...

So, I picked this reply while I was in town and had a quick investigate -- I've made a first change on https://www.openstreetmap.org/changeset/62357550

It's likely the area will need surveying in the near future due to "New Yard" development by http://www.cityandcountry.co.uk...

ndm, thank you for the follow up, when the gates were added, the evidence used for adding them was street level imagery: old gate - (https://www.bing.com/maps?cp=51.447401~-2.592546&lvl=17&dir=104.101&style=x&v=2&sV=1) you can see some type of barrier if you move over a few fram...

Hello, thanks for contributing to open street map.

Please note that the Mapbox satellite images of this new way show that the terminal is within a cul-de-sac. Accordingly, the terminal node should also have been tagged with the highway=turning_circle tag to accurately reflect that there is a c...

Thanks Ganesh, in general I keep an eye on edits in Scotland and especially Edinburgh - I've seen a lot of service roads added that have been added now getting removed around Scotland. Ideally I would like to understand a bit more about how they were identified to be added and what sources were...

Hi Chris, We use driver activity as a source to identify missing roads. Once a potential missing road has been identified we use OSM resources to confirm if a road exists. We make an edit only if there is proof available.
However in some cases the editors misinterpret the evidence. We ensure that ...

Thanks great to know - so these are cases where their probably are service roads going around the building (from imagery) but if you don't have drivers traces to verify this with then you won't add the roads, thank you for yhe detailed response.
